(Minghui.org) Seven more Chinese citizens were sentenced to prison for distributing information about Falun Gong and its persecution by the Chinese communist regime.
One of them was nowhere to be found after the verdict was delivered. The local detention center said they had transferred her to the designated prison, but the prison claimed not to have received her.
Ms. Wan Mingying, Ms. Li Ruizhen, Ms. Feng Airong, and Ms. Yang Xiuping were arrested on September 3, 2016 while talking to people about Falun Gong. They were tried on February 23, 2017.
Ms. Feng, once a healthy woman, was tortured to the point that she could no longer walk by herself. She had to be carried into the courtroom by bailiffs.
The local court announced verdicts about two weeks later, sentencing all four practitioners to prison, with Ms. Feng given 3 years and the others 1.5 years each.
The practitioners were ordered to serve time at Xinxiang Women’s Prison, but Ms. Feng’s family was told she was not there when they went to visit her. They were puzzled, as the other three practitioners had all been admitted.
Ms. Feng’s family then visited Anyang Detention Center and was told that she had been transferred to prison.
Ms. Feng’s whereabouts remain unknown at the time of writing.
Ms. Qiu Yuanjin, Ms. Ge Jianzhen, Ms. Wu Xiaocui, and Ms. Zhang Xiulan were arrested on August 27, 2016 for distributing information about Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhang later managed to escape and is now living away from home. The three other practitioners’ lawyers were barred from attending their trial, the details of which still remain to be investigated.
The local court recently issued the following prison sentences against the four practitioners: Ms. Qiu: 3.5 years and 6,000 yuan of fine; Ms. Ge: 2 years and 4,000 yuan of fine; Ms. Wu: 2 years and 2,000 yuan of fine.
