(Minghui.org) When I was visiting my little sister in another city in 2004 I went to a supermarket to talk to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I was reported to the authorities for distributing Dafa informational materials and was arrested.
Refusing to Cooperate with the Police
There were many officers at the police station, but I was not afraid and spoke to them about Falun Dafa. The officers ignored me.
Master said:
“No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil’s demands, orders, or what it instigates. ” (“Dafa Disciples’ Righteous Thoughts are Powerful” from Essentials for Further Advancement II)
They asked for my name, address, work place, phone number, and information about the source of the fliers that I had with me. I refused to answer any of their questions. They wanted to take my photo so I covered my face. They pulled me by my hair, but still could not take my photo. Then they wanted to fingerprint me, but I wouldn't let them.
About six police officers punched me and kicked me. One officer kneed me in the back, and another punched my head. Others tried to pry open my fist for fingerprinting, but none of them were able to.
My heart was calm and I felt no fear. I asked Master to help and shouted, “It will not hurt me, whoever beats me.” I indeed did not feel any pain when they struck me.
They beat and cursed at me for two hours, but they still couldn't get what they wanted.
They later decided to take me to a detention center. While I was getting in the car, an officer kneed me in the back very hard. I sent forth righteous thoughts to have him feel the pain. He began screaming in agony.
Treated Well in the Detention Center
When we arrived at the detention center, the authorities there refused to accept me because they had no paperwork. The officers transporting me there just left me there, so the detention center took me inside.
While the guard walked me to her office, I told her about Falun Dafa and the persecution. She sympathized with me, and in her office, she gave me her dinner and ate the instant noodles that were meant for me.
No matter whom I met—inmates, guards, or officials—I told them all about Dafa.
Some inmates responded by saying things like, “I won't do bad deeds again after I get out. I will be a good person.” Some people wanted to learn the exercises from me and some said that they would learn them when they were released.
Representing Falun Dafa's Image
We must be good, no matter where we, are because we represent Falun Dafa's image. Therefore, I followed the rules and schedules for eating and sleeping while I was detained. When others watched television, I sent forth righteous thoughts or quietly recited the Fa. I also looked inward to find where I did not do well.
However, I refused to read or memorize the detention center rules. There was a female guard who was very cruel, and everyone was afraid of her. She asked me why I did not memorize the rules.
“I did not do anything wrong,” I replied. “I try only to become a better person who has a high moral character.”
She did not respond, and only said that our cell was the “honor” cell. People in the honor cell are given a piece of meat with their meals every day, but I was given two pieces. Even when other cells got the honor title, I was still given meat at mealtimes.
All of the inmates were called by their detention center number, but no one called me by my number. The inmates called me “Falun Dafa auntie,” and the guards never punished them for it.
After two days in the detention center, the guards had me moved to a bed with the best ventilation. An inmate asked me why the guards treated me so well. “I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner,” I replied. “And I'm trying to become a better person.”
The people in the detention center know that Falun Dafa is good. The guards often brought me some of their clothes and shared their food with me. When it was the holidays, they would even give me a gift.
Witnessing the Power of Falun Dafa
The detention center guards once tried to open my handcuffs when I was to be interrogated, but four of them could not open them after trying for about 20 minutes. I believed that this was a sign from Master, so I asked Master to help me free my hands so that I could pull one hand out.
The guards told me that if I could get the other hand out they would believe that Dafa is good. I asked Master to give me the ability, and pulled out my other hand. They were shocked because usually when someone tries to move their hands, the handcuffs simply tighten more. The interrogator said to the guards, “Falun Dafa must be great.”
Two different interrogators came the next day. They heard what had happened the day before and asked me to show them. So I did. They said that if I walked out of the detention center, they would not go after me.
“I am a practitioner,” I said. “I do have the capability to walk out of here, but I want you to release me so that I can walk out with dignity.”
Released After One Month
Although I was called for interrogation on a daily basis, I only told them about Falun Dafa when I spoke.
When the deputy director and about eight guards came to interrogate me, they asked for my name.
“This is a place where people who have broken the law are detained,” I replied. “I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner who is trying to be a good person with a high moral character. You are committing a crime by detaining me. You have no right to detain me.”
Since I had their full attention, I continued, telling them the true situation that we all face: “Nowadays people have no moral values. Can divine beings allow this? The heavens will resolve this if humans don't. The earth needs to be renewed. If people want to enter the new universe and enter the future, they must agree with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Practitioners are here to help people improve their moral standards. How can I do that if you detain me?”
The deputy director understood and said, “You should be released as soon as possible and do the things that you are supposed to do.”
I was released after a month in the detention center.
