(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 were illegally arrested.
Ms. Ying Yu from the Putuo District was arrested at her home on April 18, 2017. Her place was ransacked and she was taken to a detention center.
Officers from the Domestic Security Division contacted Ms. Ying’s mother and said that they would send her to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Ying was recently taken to the Shanghai Brainwashing Center by officers from the Putuo District 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division.
Ms. Cheng, Ms. Wang, Ms. Li Xiangdong and her son Mr. Cheng Chao from Xianhe Town, Shengli Oilfield, were arrested by armed officers from the Haigang Border Police Station on May 21, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
Ms. Cheng and Ms. Wang were brought home by their families. Ms. Li and her son Mr. Cheng were handcuffed and taken to the Niuzhuang Detention Center for ten days of detention.
Ms. Zhang Aili and Ms. Tian Yumei, employees at the Shengli Oilfield, were arrested by officers from the Shengli Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong around the Jinhua Residential Community on the afternoon of May 16, 2017.
Ms. Tian was brought home by her family the following day. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Niuzhuang Detention Center for ten days of detention.
Ms. Zang Jianxin, an employee at the China Bank, was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on May 22, 2017. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books.
Ms. Meng Qingmei was arrested in Longwangmiao Township by officers from the Shan County Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 20, 2017.
Ms. Wang Haiyan from Duzhuang Town was arrested on May 20, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Guo Fengji from the Qibin District was arrested at her home by officers from the Shancheng District Police Department and the 610 Office on the morning of May 19, 2017.
The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books and other related materials. She is being held in the Hebi City Detention Center.
Ms. Nie Xiuying from the Tanggu District was given a one-and-a-half-year prison term. She appealed but her verdict was upheld.
Ms. Nie was taken to the Anhui Women's Prison a month ago.
Mr. Fang Bin and his wife Ms. Feng Yunqing were arrested by officers from the Houhu Police Station on the morning of May 22, 2017.
Mr. Fang was released that day, but Ms. Feng was taken into custody.
Ms. Fang Caixia and Mr. Kong Qingchun were each sentenced to four years in prison by the Ganjingzi District Court.
Ms. Li Fengxia and Ms. Wang Ruijuan were arrested by officers from the Hunhewan Police Station, Heping District, on the afternoon of May 22, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers' market.
Mr. Huang Liqiao, an engineer from Tianjin, was arrested on April 7, 2012, and was sentenced to seven years in prison for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Huang tried several times to file an appeal, but the authorities at Binhai Prison never sent out his appeal letters.
His wife, who was not allowed to see her husband until March 21, 2017, finally submitted his appeal letter to the Tianjin First Intermediate Court.
She learned on May 22 that her husband's appeal case has been docketed on May 2. Hou Jinzhuan is the judge assigned to handle the case.
Mr. Shao Chengluo and his wife Ms. Gao Wenshu were arrested while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Xiazhuang Town on the afternoon of May 2, 2017. Their home was ransacked that night.
Mr. Shao was taken to the Chengyang District Detention Center the following day. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was force-fed.
Ms. Gao was taken to the Pudong No. 2 Detention Center in Jimo. She was interrogated for a whole day on May 8.
Two officers from the Cuiping Police Station harassed Ms. Wang Fengying at her home on May 10, 2017. They asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Wang said that she did.
They tried to get into her home, but Ms. Wang blocked them at the entrance. They left but said that they would order the Domestic Security Division to ransack her home.
The two officers went to Ms. Zhang Shulan’s home and took away two copies of informational materials about Falun Gong.
Judge Xu Xiaoting from the Yi County Court sentenced Ms. Yuan Hongxia to 22 months in prison and Mr. Li Shiping to two years in prison on May 8, 2017.
The two practitioners have filed appeals.
Ms. Yuan is being held in the Baoding City Detention Center. Mr. Li is being held in the Yi County Detention Center.
The Huining County Court sentenced Mr. Zhang Hengtong to eight months’ imprisonment and fined him 5,000 yuan in April 2017.
Mr. Zhang has been held in the Huining County Detention Center, where he was often beaten.
Mr. Zhang’s family went to visit him on May 5 after hearing that he had been tortured. The guards would not allow them to see Mr. Zhang and said that they had to wait until May 12.
