Additional Persecution News from China – May 2, 2017 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 19 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 24 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yizheng City, Jiangsu Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced

Ms. Zhu Chengxia was tricked into going to the Chengbei Police Station on December 10, 2015. She never returned home.

Ms. Zhu was tried on July 26, 2016, by the Yizheng City Court and sentenced to an 18-month prison term on November 13, 2016.

Ms. Xiang Yuqin, 81, Ms. Qian Hongmei, 72, and Mr. Xiao Yueqian were sentenced to three years of probation the same day.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Chunying and Ms. Feng Shumei Arrested

Ms. Wang Chunying and Ms. Feng Shumei from Xiaowangzhuang Village, Kangzhuang Town, Yanqing District were arrested on the evening of April 29, 2017, for posting stickers with information about Falun Gong.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Pei Shumei Arrested

Ms. Pei Shumei from Taohuayuan, Erdao District was arrested on April 18, 2017, by officers from the Erdao Police Department and Police Station.

She was subjected to 15 days administrative detention. However, the Erdao Police Department notified her daughter on April 30, stating that her detention status had changed to criminal detention.

4. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Liao Mingyou, Ms. Li Benhui, Ms. Zhou Jixiu, Mr. Zhang Zongbiao, Mr. Xie Wenzhao, and Mr. Zeng Yuegui were arrested on the afternoon of April 21, 2017, while they were reading Falun Gong books in Mr. Liao's home.

Officers from the Bajiao Police Station in the Jingyang District broke into Mr. Liao's home, confiscated their Falun Gong books, and took them to the police station. The officers then returned to Mr. Liao's home and ransacked the place, confiscating a box of Falun Gong books.

The six practitioners were released after being interrogated separately in the police station, but their books were not returned.

5. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Pu Mingfang Arrested

Ms. Pu Mingfang from Xinfeng Township was arrested on April 28, 2017, when she was telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Officers from the Qingbaijiang Police Station in Chengdu City ransacked Ms. Pu's home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.

6. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xiao Chengrong's Home Ransacked

Ms. Xiao Chengrong's home was ransacked on the morning of April 28, 2017, while she was at work. Liu Yuangao, the director of the Lianshan Town Police Station, and officer Tan Benyue searched her home and confiscated her book Zhuan Falun.

7. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhao Shunu Imprisoned and in Poor Health

Ms. Zhao Shunu from Caijiagang, Xiejiaji District was sentenced to five years in 2015 for suing Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party.

Ms. Zhao is incarcerated in the Shuangdun Town Women's Prison in Changfeng County, Hefei City. She has since lost weight, her hair, and her eyesight.

8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Yumei Arrested

Ms. Zhou Yumei of Qilu Petrochemical company was arrested on March 16, 2017, when she was talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong in Qidu Town.

Ms. Zhou has been held at the Fujia Detention Center.

9. [Boxing County, Shandong Province] Mr. He Pudi and Ms. He Rongzhen Arrested

Mr. He Pudi and Ms. He Rongzhen were arrested by officers from the Pangjia Town Police Station on the evening of April 17, 2017, when they were distributing Falun Gong materials.

They were taken to the Binzhou City Detention Center that night. Mr. He was released. Ms. He is still being held there.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dai Xiaoping and Ms. Yang Zhifang Arrested

Ms. Dai Xiaoping and Ms. Yang Zhifang were arrested on May 1, 2017, when they were telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong.

11. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Airong's Home Ransacked Harassed

Ms. Zhang Airong's home was ransacked on April 14, 2017, by Cao Shuwen, the head of Changyi City 610 Office; Liu Changen, head of the Changyi City Domestic Security Division; Song Faxin, an officer from the Yinma Police Station; and others. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, about 800 blank discs, over 300 disc cases, Falun Gong materials, and other personal belongings.

12. [Jiuquan City, Gansu Province] Twelve Practitioners Harassed

Twelve Falun Gong practitioners from the Xincheng District have been harassed at home since mid-April 2017 by officers from the Xincheng District Police Department.

The harassed practitioners include Ms. Yang Cuifang, Ms. Zhou Shufang, Mr. Li Bingchang, Ms. Jia Xiuer, Ms. Zhang Guilan, Mr. Wang Yongchang, Mr. Yang Yuanhua, Ms. Liang Mengyue, Ms. Wang Yuqin, Ms. Liu Cuilan, Ms. Zhang Xiuping, and Ms. Xu Guifang.

13. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Chunyi and Ms. Zhang Xiuli Arrested

Mr. Zhao Chunyi and Ms. Zhang Xiuli were arrested at work on April 27, 2017, by officers from the Ranghulu District Police Department.

Mr. Zhao was taken to a detention center.

Ms. Zhang was taken to a detention center in the Longfeng District, but was not accepted because of her poor health. She was taken to the Daqing No. 4 Hospital.

14. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Tried

Four practitioners were tried by the Xishi District Court on April 27-28, 2017.

Ms. Xue Fang (Xue Chunfang) was tired on the morning of April 27, while Ms. Gao Xiuhua was tried in the afternoon.

Mr. Jing Fuzhang was tried on the morning of April 28. Ms. Sun Shuqing was tried in the afternoon.

The morning sessions ran from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The afternoon sessions ran from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The families of the practitioners were provided with only two seats per family in the courtroom. Police officers sat in the rest of the seats.

15. [Zijin County, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zeng Liuming Sentenced

Mr. Zeng Liuming was recently sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment. The court didn’t inform his family or his attorney of the trial, and his family was not notified of the verdict.

Mr. Zeng's family has now filed an appeal, and requested that all of the charges be dropped and that Mr. Zeng be released.

16. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Xueqing and Ms. Li Jinling Taken to Prison

Ms. Ma Xueqing, 48, and Ms. Li Jinling, 54, were both sentenced to three-and-a-half-year prison terms in December 2016. They immediately filed appeals.

The Dalian Intermediate Court upheld the original sentences on March 15, 2017. The two practitioners were taken to the Liaoning Women’s Prison on April 25.

17. [Cangxi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Shaoqun Taken to Prison

Ms. Deng Shaoqun, 64, was arrested at the entrance to a residential community on April 22, 2016. She was sentenced to a four-and-a-half year prison term on December 13, 2016.

Ms. Deng was taken to the Longquanyi Women’s Prison in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province in March 2017.

18. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Si Deli Tried

Mr. Si Deli was arrested on March 17, 2016, because he filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.

He was tried on April 14, 2017, and is being held in a detention center.
