In addition to performing in the parade, practitioners hosted a booth at Tompkins Square Park, where they demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, set up posters, and collected signatures to help end the persecution of the spiritual discipline in China. The activities attracted many passersby, some of whom learned the exercises and talked to practitioners to learn more about Falun Gong.
