(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Haijun from Harbin City, is serving an eight-year prison sentence for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese leader who instigated the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
He has been tortured in prison, and on April 25, 2017, was diagnosed with tuberculosis and kidney disease.
Mr. Zhao has been held in Hulan Prison since January 4, 2017.
He has been forced to sit still for extended periods of time, and subjected to forced labor, in attempts to coerce him into renouncing his belief in Falun Gong. Prison personnel also injected him with unknown drugs, causing him to be unable to urinate for an extended period.
His family was only recently allowed to visit him on April 21. They found that his health had deteriorated drastically since their last visit, and that he appeared emaciated and pale. He spoke slowly and became out of breath after saying only a few words.
His hands also began to tremble after standing for a few minutes. He has had no appetite, and no longer has the sense of smell or taste. No details about his health or what drug he was administered were given to his family on or before their recent visit.
The family's requests to visit him have been denied five times in the last three months. The prison authorities said that they denied family visits because Mr. Zhao refused to renounce his belief.
