(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Huijie from Qiqihar City in Heilongjiang Province was illegally arrested on March 21, 2017, when she visited another practitioner. The police confiscated her house key and ransacked her home.
She was arrested for hanging banners to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong, and was taken to Xinlijie Police Station.
Her arms were tied behind her back and she was forced to sit in an iron chair torture device for three days and two nights. During this torture her left leg became numb, and she became unable to walk.
Hunger Strike in Detention Center
Ms. Liu was transferred to a detention center on March 23 and was found to have very high blood pressure. Nonetheless, she was not released on medical parole.
She went on a hunger strike to protest her detention, and was force-fed six days later. She was beaten when she refused to have the feeding tube inserted. The scratch mark from a guard's nail is still visible on her nose.
She was also made to sit still for several days. During this torture she experienced dizziness and headaches, as well as chest and back pain.
The guards stopped force-feeding her after April 11, because her health was deteriorating. She was taken to a hospital where she was injected with an unknown drug. Her health deteriorated even more after that.
Previous Mistreatment
Ms. Liu was tortured in Wenhua Street Police Station in 2008, when she was handcuffed to an iron chair and deprived of sleep for two days. The guards also covered her head with a plastic bag, and inserted lit cigarettes into her nose.
