(Minghui.org) Several Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested by Jiao Yafeng (head of the Bozhou City Domestic Security Division), deputy head Shi Xinmin, police officer Jiao Yafeng and other officers on October 12, 2013.
The practitioners were tortured in an underground interrogation room in the Zhancheng District Police Department in Bozhou.
Mr. Li Haifeng, who is blind, was subjected to numerous torture methods over a three-day period.
The police whipped his face with a leather belt for at least 30 minutes. Then, they tied his arms behind his back into a constrictive and painful position for half an hour–repeating the process three times.
Officers forcibly put mustard oil into Mr. Li's nose using a funnel. He lost consciousness a few times because he couldn't breathe. The officers poured cold water over him to revive him, and then continued to pour the oil into his nasal passages 12 more times.
His face was smothered with a wet towel covered in mustard oil. As soon as Mr. Li took a breath, his nasal passages, mouth, and lungs were seriously irritated by the oil.
The police, using rubber gloves, rubbed Mr. Li's testicles very hard with the mustard oil.
While he was being tortured, he heard a female practitioner's screams from the interrogation room next door that lasted the entire night. He suspected that it was the voice of Ms. Li Dongmei. Mr. Li was transferred to a detention center on October 14, 2013.
The police pulled Mr. Cui Yong up by his hair, and punched his ribs and back repeatedly. They wrapped a plastic bag around his head until he passed out. They also handcuffed him and hung him from the window frame overnight. They also kicked and beat him while he was suspended from the window frame.
The practitioners were illegally tried, while their attorneys from Beijing and Bozhou pleaded not guilty on their behalf.
The attorneys accused the police of committing coordinated group crimes in order to maximize the penalty the practitioners would face.
The judges at the trial were Yan Tingyao and Che Haisan. The public prosecutor was Su Xiaofei.
