(Minghui.org) Eighteen years into the suppression of Falun Gong, many officials in China have chosen to stop participating in the persecution policy established by the Chinese Communist Party. More and more practitioners have recently been released.
First Trial Overturned
Ms. Zhang Sufang, a resident of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, was arrested on July 9, 2016 when she was telling others about Falun Gong. After receiving a two-year prison term, Ms. Zhang appealed.
During the second trial, she argued, “Practicing Falun Gong is allowed by Chinese law. Following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a better person does not violate the laws, either.”
The judge in the second trial announced on March 29, 2017 that there was “no evidence” to support Ms. Zhang's guilt. She returned home later that day.
Case Rejected Multiple Times
Ms. Yang Shuyu, 58, lives in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Local police arrested her on March 8, 2106 after she filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong. Officials also ransacked her home on the same day.
The Shakhekou Procuratorate rejected her case multiple times and requested further investigation by police. In the end, prosecutors did not find any evidence against her and released her on March 30.
