(Minghui.org) My father used to practice Falun Gong after he witnessed how my mother had recovered from kidney failure.

However, he stopped practicing when the persecution against Falun Gong started in July 1999 due to his fear of being targeted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Reading Falun Gong informational materials helped to clear up misunderstandings that he had about the practice.

My mom had kidney failure and the doctors couldn't do anything to help her. She soon recovered when she started to practice Falun Gong. My father witnessed the miracle that happened to her and also started to practice Falun Gong.

My mom stopped practicing when the persecution began, and soon passed away. My father was afraid of the CCP and believed that if he continued to practice, it would affect his children's future. He stopped and burned all of his Dafa books.

I tried to persuade him a few times to carry on practicing, but he refused out of fear. He also refused to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, and demanded that I not mention Falun Gong again.

I thought that as a practitioner, if I can't save my father, who could I save?

I tried to talk to him about Falun Gong and the persecution later, but the effect was not good. I asked him to read Falun Gong informational materials, but he didn't want to do so. I tried to read them to him, but he didn't want to listen either. I then left the materials with him and didn't return for two months.

I later spoke about the situation with other practitioners. One practitioner said: “You can't save your father because of your sentimentality towards him. As your heart isn't on the Fa, you should study the Fa more and rectify yourself. Just treat your father as a normal person. Only then you can achieve the goal of saving him.”

On the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, I bought some presents and visited my father. His face with rosy and he looked like very happy. He even invited my husband and I to have lunch.

My step-mother told me quietly: “He read the materials you left, and understands the truth about the persecution. He has no doubts about Falun Gong. He is much healthier now.”

My husband and I asked him to quit the CCP and he happily agreed. I then gave him more Falun Gong informational materials.

Sentient beings can be saved only when we have a compassionate heart. Human notions can't save people.
