(Minghui.org) A trial court in Yanji City, Jilin Province recently sentenced two locals to prison, less than four months after it dismissed their case.
Mr. An Fuzi and Ms. Zhu Xiyu were arrested in March 2016 while reading books of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime, at a private home. They were detained for 20 days before being placed under house arrest for six months.
They were ordered to report to Yanji City Court on December 27, when Judge Jin Yingyu dismissed their case and set them free.
The same judge, though, reversed his decision months later. Mr. An and Ms. Zhu were taken to the court by police on April 7, 2017, without being given any reason for the required court appearance. Once there, they were shocked to hear judge Jin announce a guilty verdict against them on the same charges.
Ms. Zhu was sentenced to 4 years in prison and ordered to be held in custody after the court session.
Mr. An, 76, was given 3 years in prison, but he was released on bail due to his poor health. He is appealing his case.
