(Minghui.org) I started to practice Falun Gong in 2013 and had the good fortune to join a Fa study group right from the start, since given the persecution, group Fa study activities have been curtailed in China.
At the beginning, I was clueless as to the seriousness of cultivation. I was not diligent because I was still involved in ordinary pastimes. Fellow practitioners discussed this with me and taught me how to look inward, how to find my attachments, and how important it is to follow the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
Besides, in watching senior practitioners during Fa study, I noticed that they were very diligent, and I benefited from hearing their cultivation experiences.
Meaningful Sharing
Being a relatively new practitioner, I could not understand much when we read Zhuan Falun. I often asked questions, but they were not always on the Fa. Fellow practitioners kindly pointed out my misunderstandings and shared their thoughts based on the Fa.
When the group was reading Lunyu, which I had memorized, I did not think I needed to participate. Instead I downloaded the Minghui weekly. Nevertheless, I listened to the readers and could correct a fellow practitioner for mispronouncing a word, for which I received praise from another practitioner. However, when I corrected another practitioner, she refused to accept my correction, but did accept correction from other practitioners.
The group shared experience afterwards and a senior practitioner asked what I thought about what had happened.
“I know that I should look inward, which I did,” I told her. “I found several attachments, including wanting to be right, to not lose face and to showing off.”
At the end, I apologized to the practitioner whose reading I corrected and thanked her for being instrumental in my finding several attachments.
By cooperating with each other, we improve on our cultivation paths.
