(Minghui.org) Seven Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on March 8, 2017, at the Huairou Security Checkpoint in Beijing. The police confiscated 500 yuan in paper currency with information about Falun Gong printed on them, dozens of Falun Gong amulets, and three cell phones.
The arrested practitioners are: Ms. Zhao Ping, Ms. Li Shuyun, Ms. Chen Chunhua, Mr. Tan Shouli, Ms. Cui Guomei, Mr. Wang Rusheng, and Ms. Tu Xiaomin.
The seven practitioners were taken to the Huairou Detention Center and the Shunyi Detention Center.
Ms. Zhao and Ms. Chen were released. Ms. Li is held in the Shunyi Detention Center. The whereabouts of the other practitioners is not known.
Officer Li Yong from the Heyi Police Station and officers from the Huairou Police Station ransacked Ms. Li Shuyun’s home on March 9. They confiscated a wall calendar and other personal belongings.
The police asked Ms. Li for her signature, but she refused. They left without providing a list of the items they confiscated.
Ms. Li’s family was not provided information about the confiscated items when they went to the Huairou Police Department to file a complaint. The officer questioned them, and demanded to know if they practiced Falun Gong. He threatened: “If you are a practitioner, you will be immediately arrested.”
Ms. Li’s family is in the process of filing complaints to the Huairou District Procuratorate.
Officers from the Huairou Domestic Security Division and local police station ransacked Ms. Zhao Ping’s home on March 9, and confiscated four Falun Gong books.
Ms. Zhao protested that the officers violated legal procedures, fabricated evidence, and severely inconvenienced her.
The guards at the Shunyi Detention Center ordered inmates to slander Falun Gong. Mr. Tan Shouli protested by going on a three-day hunger strike.
A guard taunted, “You see that the inmates swear at Falun Gong. I cannot guarantee that they won’t take more aggressive actions.” Ms. Zhao protested these threats and demanded to meet with the prosecutor, who refused to respond.
Ms. Zhao, Ms. Tu, and Ms. Cui were handcuffed and shackled.
According to an inmate, Ms. Cui was tied to a bed. She was sparsely clad despite a chilly winter day and not provided a blanket. She was not allowed to leave the bed to use the restroom.
Ms. Chen Chunhua was taken to the Huairou Detention Center. She refused to give her name and address and went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. The guards force-fed her three times, leaving the feeding tube inside her.
They released her on the tenth day of her hunger strike, when her blood pressure was found to be extremely high.
