(Minghui.org) Ms. Wu Jingqing, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hefei City, returned home on February 9, 2017, after being detained for eight months. The Luyang District Procuratorate withdrew the case against her on February 3, soon after the charges were formally made.
Prior to the charges being filed, the Procuratorate had returned the case to the police department twice for lack of evidence.
Ms. Wu and another practitioner, Mr. Hu Enkui, were arrested on May 19, 2016, by Luyang District Domestic Security Division officers for hanging up Falun Gong posters. The police ransacked Ms. Wu’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books, a computer, two printers, and other personal belongings.
When Ms. Wu's parents finally got a list of the items that were seized, several items that had been taken were not listed. Plus, over 100 DVDs with information about Falun Gong were listed, but they were not Ms. Wu's.
Ms. Wu's sister died in 2011. When he was told that his second daughter had been detained, Ms. Wu's father was devastated. He suffered a mental collapse and had to be hospitalized.
After he was discharged, he and his wife went to the detention center, police department, Procuratorate, and the court, trying to get Ms. Wu freed. A police officer yelled at them, “I can detain her if I want to. If she were my daughter, I would kill her.”
Ms. Wu's attorney received anonymous phone calls, threatening him if he did not quit the case.
Ms. Wu began to practice Falun Gong when she was in high school. She was arrested in February 2001 when she was a senior at Anhui University of Architecture. She was arrested again in October 2002. She was detained for nearly seven months. She became emaciated and developed blood in her stool and urine.
