(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhu Yanting, a Falun Gong practitioner from Fengtai District, Beijing, was illegally arrested by officers from the Yangqiao Police Station and staff from the neighborhood committee on the evening of March 7, 2017. She was taken to the Fengtai District Evidence Collection Center. Prior to the arrest, the police monitored her activities for four days.
An unidentified person from a courier service called Ms. Zhu around 8 p.m. on March 3 and asked whether she would be at home to receive a package. She confirmed she would be home. She then thought that something was strange because the courier service in her area did not work that late.
When she called the courier service for additional information about the sender she was not given detailed information. When she asked for the order number, she was told to wait for a return call. Instead, police officer Yang Zhong and several police assistants knocked on the door.
Ms. Zhu did not open her door or answer her phone. Officer Yang left, but the police assistants remained outside her apartment for the next several days.
Ms. Zhu asked that these men identify themselves on March 5. After some questioning, they admitted that they worked for Ma Ying, the director of the neighborhood committee. They pretended to leave, but remained on a lower floor to monitor her.
Ms. Zhu delivered Falun Gong truth-clarification pamphlets on March 7 to Ma Ying, the neighborhood committee director. She handed the envelope to the entrance guard, which was recorded by a surveillance camera.
Upon returning home, Ms. Zhu also clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the two police assistants stationed in the apartment building. They called police officer Yang Zhong, who was already in the lobby.
Yang Zhong interrogated Ms. Zhu and called for more police officers and for staff from the neighborhood committee. More than 10 agents arrived. They threatened Ms. Zhu and demanded to search her home. She refused them entry and talked to them about the goodness of Falun Gong and the persecution. Instead they demanded that she turn over her key, but she refused.
They handcuffed Ms. Zhu, searched her bag, and found informational materials about Falun Gong. They searched her, took her key and illegally entered her home. The home was ransacked, and they confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials among other items of personal property.
Ms. Zhu was taken to the Yangqiao Police Station in Fengtai District. The officers told Ms. Zhu's family that they arrested her for distributing informational material about Falun Gong. According to the officers, Ms. Zhu was taken to Fengtai District Evidence Collection Center on the evening of March 7.
