(Minghui.org) Ms. Lv Huizhi, 54, is a teacher from Nanyang Elementary School in Yunming City. She was arrested on July 26, 2016 while distributing information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
People from the local 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with eradicating Falun Gong and given power to override the judicial system, accompanied Ms. Lv’s husband to visit her at the Kunming City Detention Center.
Her husband had been pressured by the 610 Office to try to persuade her to renounce Falun Gong. He showed her a video clip of their daughter, pleading for her to stop practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Lv loves her family deeply, and she didn’t want them to cooperate with the police to persecute her for her faith. She explained why she’d never give up Falun Gong.
Her husband hired a lawyer to defend her, after realizing that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong. The local court, however, secretly tried her in January 2017 without informing her family or lawyer. They later found out that she had been sentenced to 3 years and is now serving time at Yunan Second Women’s Prison.
