(Minghui.org) The defense lawyer representing a Falun Gong practitioner in Jilin City, Jilin Province was threatened by a local court never to enter a not-guilty plea for his client. He complied under the pressure.
Ms. Wang Shuqiu was seized from home on October 25, 2016 while hosting a study group to read books of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Her 12 friends who came over for the group study were released on November 4, but she was issued a formal arrest warrant on November 8.
The officer delivering the warrant wrote Ms. Wang’s husband’s name on the warrant when he refused to sign it himself.
Only Ms. Wang’s husband and son were allowed to attend the trial on January 19, 2017. Her lawyer made a guilty plea for her after being threatened by Shan Lianhong of Changyi District Court the day before the hearing.
The lawyer told Ms. Wang’s husband to expect a prison term of at least 4 years for his wife.
