(Minghui.org) My husband and I were harassed and arrested by officials because we practice Falun Gong. Both the Party secretary of the neighborhood committee and local police actively participated in this.
The Party secretary later left and a new person assumed the position. Thinking that I would try to save him, I decided to take the initiative to speak with him first so that he would not mistreat practitioners. On the way to see him, I calmed down and sent forth righteous thoughts to save him.
After I introduced myself, the new Party secretary looked surprised. Apparently he did not expect that I would contact him before he reached out to me. Nonetheless, we sat down and he listened attentively as I explained how my family was wrongly persecuted for following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I told him how my husband was forced to stay away from home and I was also followed by agents who were sent by local officials.
When I showed him the scars on my hands left by the tight handcuffs during my last detention, he said he was sorry about that. But because of orders from above, he said there was not much they could do. He also told me to stop practicing to avoid further trouble.
I cleared my mind and was determined to save him. I have since visited him several times and brought him new informational materials on our region from the Minghui website. He has now learned the facts about Falun Gong and has even asked for more materials.
During the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, local police and 610 Office agents talked with him many times, telling him to go to my home with them and help to force me to write statements promising to give up practicing Falun Gong.
One day when I visited him, he said those officials had come to see him again the previous day. “They stayed in my office for a long time," he said, "and insisted that we go to your home. I yelled at them, saying that it was wrong to harass you, because you had done nothing wrong.
“Please be mindful of your safety,” he said, “and I will protect you, too.”
The 610 Office agents discussed this with him again the next day. They threatened to arrest me if I refused to sign paperwork promising to give up my practice.
Seeing no other option, the Party secretary said he would send two people to watch me at the building entrance. “That way, the officials will not arrest you. Please do not worry about the two people outside your building. They will disappear in a few days.”
Through the years, this Party secretary has protected many practitioners in my area. I know that, because he supports what is right, he will be blessed.
