(Minghui.org) At our family dinner during the Chinese New Year, my father said, “I will sign the complaint to help bring Jiang Zemin to justice!”
My father became a factory manager at the age of 36. He turned a money-losing factory into a profitable one and was honored as a model worker by the municipal government.
During the Great Cultural Revolution, he was forced to write self-criticizing reports every night. Although he was treated unfairly, my father still had faith in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
My mother began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. Before that, she had severe illnesses, including heart disease, psoriasis, and rectal cancer. After she began practicing, all of her illnesses were healed. Her mental state also improved.
She liked to share her experiences with others. I followed my mother’s suggestion and started to practice, but my father was against it.
After Jiang Zemin, the head of the CCP and China's regime, launched the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999, my mother’s manager threatened to fire her if she did not stop practicing. The persecution was severe throughout the country. Falun Dafa practitioners were being arrested and tortured. My mother could not withstand the pressure and gave up the practice.
Her physical condition subsequently went downhill, and she went to Beijing for another operation. She was bedridden afterward and went into a deep depression about stopping the practice. She passed away 14 months after the surgery.
Back then, my father had been deceived by the CCP's propaganda and couldn't understand why my mother had passed away. He blamed her for not getting treatment in time.
When I tried to explain to him how she had been persecuted, he refused to listen. My manager at work also tried to force me to give up cultivation and asked my father to talk to me as well.
When I tried to clarify the facts to him, he still didn't want to listen because he was afraid that I'd lose my job if I continued practicing. Officials from my workplace later took me to a municipal brainwashing center. They said that if I did not renounce Falun Dafa, they'd take me to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
When my father came to see me, a guard slapped me right in front of him. My father became very upset. He soon tried to use his personal connections and bribes to prevent me from being taken to the forced labor camp. In retaliation, the guard tortured me in order to make me give in.
She handcuffed me and shocked me with two electric batons. I succumbed to the torture and wrote the so-called repentance statement, promising to quit the practice, and was released home. I was illegally arrested in 2002 however and taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The guards there tortured me.
I went on a hunger strike and was subjected to daily force-feeding. As a result, both sides of my nose were damaged. When they put the tube into my nose, the blood began to run down the tube. Seeing that, the guards were petrified.
They notified my father to come and persuade me to eat. My father was very concerned about me. He used his connections to get in touch with a sectional manager at the forced labor bureau, who in turn called the head of the forced labor camp.
My father also contacted his friend, who is a practitioner and a retired traffic police chief. They came together to visit me at the forced labor camp.
On the way, this practitioner clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to my father, which helped change his misconceptions. After they came to the camp, they talked to the person in charge, who allowed my father to stay and take care of me for a few days. I agreed to take meals in order to comfort him.
I told my father about the cruel torture I had been subjected to, and he became very upset. He said that he would go to challenge the warden. When he ran into her in front of a building she didn't dare to talk to him and ran away.
My father was allowed to take me for a medical exam, where the doctors found that I had a dangerously rapid heartbeat. My father requested that I be released on bail for medical reasons.
The camp officials agreed but changed their minds right after my father left, so I went on another hunger strike. Seeing that, they allowed my father to take me home. However, my father was continually afraid that I would be persecuted again.
I was reported to the police and arrested while I was clarifying the truth at work in 2006. My father was out of town at that time. As soon as he heard about it, he returned right away. He tried in many ways to rescue me and spent a lot of money on legal fees.
But I still ended up being illegally sentenced to seven years in prison and thrown in jail. My father was working in another city at that time, but he visited me as often as he could.
My father later went to Taiwan and Korea on sight-seeing trips. He learned more and more about the truth of Falun Dafa and the persecution during these trips, which further dissolved his notions. As a result, he quit the CCP.
He then talked to the prison guards in a very upright manner, which shocked them and stopped them from further torturing me. After I was released from prison, whenever police officers came to harass me, he drove them off. When they called our home to ask about me, he didn't give them any information.
I was unemployed for many years because of the persecution, and my father supported me financially during all that time. He also found a relaxing job for me in his company, so that I did not have to worry about my financial situation.
The workload was light to begin with, so I was able to spend more time studying Dafa books and working on Dafa projects. Because of his good deeds, he received good fortune.
My father used to drink a lot and was often drunk. And because of his poor health, he was afraid he wouldn't live past age 70. Now he is in his 70s, he no longer drinks, and he is well.
After I sued Jiang Zemin, I asked my father to sign the prosecution letter for me. He didn't agree at first. I gave him some truth-clarification materials, but he still didn't want to sign.
Master said in Zhuan Falun:
“You should always be benevolent and kind to others, and consider others when doing anything. Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone. In doing so, there will not be any problems.”
After reading these words from Master, I realized that my father also had been persecuted all these years. I had hardly thought about what he had gone through.
After my compassion came forth, on his own initiative, he asked me about signing the criminal complaint against Jiang. I said to him, “You have suffered so much. It's all because of Jiang Zemin. This is also for your own justice!”
“Sure, let me do it!” he said.
I felt very happy that he chose a bright future for himself. Thank you, Master Li Hongzhi, for your saving grace!
