(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Guiying was on her way to pick up her grandson on July 13, 2014, when she accidentally left her purse at the Jinzhou Train Station security checkpoint. The police found an mp3 player in her purse that had Falun Gong songs on it. She was arrested when she went back for her purse and later sentenced to three years in prison for “undermining law enforcement,” a standard pretext the judiciary uses against Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Chen was sent to Dabei Women's Prison on January 6, 2015, after almost six months in Jinzhou Detention Center. When she was released from the prison early this year, Ms. Chen did not even weigh 77 pounds. She also suffers from myocardial ischemia, a condition restricting blood flow to the heart, preventing it from receiving enough oxygen.
The following is her account of her prison experience.
I had a high fever in early January 2015. I was still sent to Dabei Women's Prison. At first, I was not admitted due to my physical condition, but the director of the detention center pulled strings and had me admitted.
I was assigned to a special ward for Falun Gong practitioners. The prison police instigated the inmates to torture us. I was subjected to forced labor during the day and forced to stand still in the freezing hallway or an empty room for long periods of time at night.
They took away my dentures so I couldn't eat solid food. Sometimes I only ate a half a bowl of porridge for an entire day. The worst part was that they would not let me use the restroom. Once, I didn't have a bowel movement for over ten days.
I became very weak, and couldn't hold my back straight. My weight dropped from 130 to 77 pounds. From time to time, I was incoherent and hallucinating. It was during one of these times that I was made to sign a so-called guarantee statement renouncing my belief. Later, when I realized what had happened, I declared my signatures on these statements null and void.
