(Minghui.org) A woman in Xinbin County, Fushun City, who was arrested last year was due to appear in court for her second hearing when the prosecutor suddenly fell ill and the hearing had to be postponed.
In September 2016, Ms. Liu Jing (Liu Zhengrong) was arrested and her home ransacked by the police from the Xinbin County Domestic Security Office and Yongling Police Station because she practices Falun Gong.
After Ms. Liu's arrest, her case was sent to the procuratorate, which returned it to the police department twice for lack of evidence. The police department then sent it back to the procuratorate a third time with no additional evidence.
Ms. Liu's family hired a lawyer who went to the procuratorate to inform the prosecutor, Zhang Xinxin, that the arrest was illegal, but the Political and Legal Affairs Committee gave instructions that the case be returned to the court.
On August 2, 2017, the first hearing for Ms. Liu was held in the Nangou Detention Center. Her lawyer pleaded not guilty on her behalf.
A second hearing to resolve her case was scheduled for November 23.
However, prosecutor Zhang suddenly developed acute appendicitis and was admitted to the hospital for an operation. The hearing has been postponed to a later date.
