(Minghui.org) Police officers visited my home twice recently, but I wasn't there both times. When they came a third time, two officers, a male and a female, arrived. The male officer said that his boss had been pressuring him to see me for two months.
He asked if I still practiced Falun Dafa, to which I replied, “Yes.” I then went on to tell him why I practice. I explained how I had become healthy by practicing, and that Dafa practitioners pay attention to cultivating their minds and improving their moral character. They treat others kindly, and live by the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
“What you said is all good,” the officer said, “But the Chinese have been talking about these principles since ancient times. We know them without practicing Falun Dafa. Why do you need to practice Dafa?”
I told him that I practice Dafa because it has taught me the true meaning of life. “To cultivate is to restore one's moral standard. Ones life will then be elevated, and the body will be purified. All these are related.” I added.
I told him that the Communists' ideology of atheism had destroyed Chinese traditional culture. The Communist doctrine states that believing in the divine is superstitious and that people should fight with heaven.
Police Officer Openly Shares His Thoughts
The officer told me unexpectedly, that he thought I was different from other practitioners. “Some practitioners resent us,” he said. “No one has ever talked kindly to me about these issues. You are the first. You're very nice.”
I told him that I don't resent the police because they are also people that need to know the truth about Falun Dafa.
He asked me why we distribute fliers and other informational materials about Dafa, and wanted to know what really happened in relation to the so-called “self-immolation incident” on Tiananmen Square. I explained in great detail how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had staged the incident and how we were trying to help to end the persecution by disseminating the facts to as many people as possible.
All of the previous political campaigns the CCP have instigated, those who carried out their orders often took the blame and became scapegoats. I warned the officer that the police who take part in persecuting Dafa practitioners should think about their futures. I emphasized that each one of them needs to protect practitioners.
After listening to me he decided to quit the Party, and gave me his office phone number in case I ever needed his help.
My heart was heavy after he left. I wondered why he thought that practitioners may resent the police? I believe it is because practitioners often fail to leave them with an impression of peace and benevolence.
Benevolence Reduces Chance of Persecution
A few days ago, An elderly practitioner in our Fa-study group talked about his son being rude to the police when they came to his home. His son is not a Dafa practitioner.
Some practitioners said he should not have acted that way; others said that it was okay since he is not a practitioner, and that it might be good to let the police know how people feel about them.
We all laughed, but now I know that the practitioners' words contained a lot of resentment. Our attachments to struggle and revenge were obvious to other people, but we did not recognize our own shortcomings.
So why was I able to leave the police with a good impression this time? I believe it was because I talked with him from my heart. I did not regard him an adversary and had no resentment towards him.
It suddenly dawned on me why the persecution continued in our area, despite the fact that we had spent a lot of time exposing the perpetrators. We were failing to see the police as victims of the Party's indoctrination.
Local practitioners lacked sufficient benevolence, and did not treat the police as people to be saved. Many practitioners had attachments to fighting, and so the old forces could exploit these loopholes to intensify the persecution.
Teacher said:
“...everything that happens today in the ordinary society is the result of Dafa disciples' thoughts. Even though the old forces do exist, if you don't have those thoughts they can't do anything. When your righteous thoughts are strong enough the old forces can't do a thing.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference II)Only when we truly recognize that the police are also victims and treat them with benevolence can we dissolve the evil behind them. Only then can the persecution against practitioners be reduced and our cultivation environment improve.
