(Minghui.org) Mr. Dai Qiyuan was outside talking to a friend when he noticed someone following him. He immediately took off running.
It was 8 p.m. on March 18, 2017, and the Chishui City resident hasn’t been in contact with his family since. Several days later the friend went to Mr. Dai’s rental place, to which he was given a key, and saw that nothing had been moved. It was apparent Mr. Dai never returned home.
Mr. Dai’s son checked with all their relatives and friends, but no one knew where his father was. The young man inquired at all the local police stations and detention centers and was told they had no idea where Mr. Dai was.
It was confirmed recently that Mr. Dai was secretly sentenced to three years in prison and is now in Zunyi Detention Center.
The prison sentence reminded Mr. Dai’s family of what happened shortly before his mysterious disappearance. The local police dropped in to ask him about the lawsuit he'd filed against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Mr. Dai and his wife, Ms. Huang Jialan, had been arrested numerous times in the past for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. They were both given three years of forced labor in 2003.
By the time Mr. Dai was released, almost all of his hair had fallen out, and his right hand was disabled. Once a healthy man, he was reduced to just skin and bones. He was arrested again in 2008 and sentenced to five years in prison in September that year. The guards kept him alone in a basement room without windows for long periods of time.
Mr. Dai filed a criminal complaint against Jiang after he was released from prison, only to be arrested again and sentenced to another three years in prison.
