Falun Gong practitioners in the centennial celebration parade
Forty waist drum players arrived from New York two hours before the event. They practiced on the high school playing field, then lined up in front of city hall.
Their golden waist drums and blue banners that read “Falun Dafa” and “Falun Dafa is good” were eye-catching, and many people took photos. The practitioners distributed lotus flowers made from folded paper and introduced Falun Gong. The mayor took a group photo with the practitioners.
The waist drum team played at the opening ceremony, as delighted spectators asked about Falun Dafa.
The practitioners also participated in the parade held after the ceremony. More than 20 practitioners held up colorful banners and walked in front of the waist drummers.
