(Minghui.org) I started to practice Falun Dafa in 1995 but did not eliminate some serious attachments until this year.
I suffered from constipation and had a bowel movement only once every six days. I did not think that this mattered until May 2017, after I had moved. I did not have stool for half a month. I was nervous and bought honey and marinated cabbage, which were often used to cure constipation.
It still took several days before I had a stool, and fellow practitioners joked that I had achieved a record of 36 days.
However, the situation did not improve, so I treated it as a test and forbore the situation. Nevertheless, I went on a reduced diet. It was a tough time for me until I read the Minghui Weekly in August and studied Master's Fa.
Master said,
“Except for newer students, from July 20 of 1999 on, Master hasn't created any personal cultivation tests for you, and that's because overall your personal cultivation has changed in every respect so that it's in the direction of saving sentient beings and validating Dafa.” ("Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference")
I realized that I was on the wrong path, so I began to deny the old forces’ arrangements and worked harder at doing the three things well. I also returned to my regular diet.
Looking Inward
My mind told me that there had to be a reason why this had happened. I started to look inward. It was not easy, as I had thought I was always diligent in my cultivation, and fellow practitioners thought the same of me.
Every morning, I read one or two chapters in Zhuan Falun. In the afternoon, I went out to talk to people about Dafa and the persecution. Furthermore, I did the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts on time.
However, once I looked deeper, I found my problem. Every day before leaving the house, I took a break and often watched others play chess or poker. Although I tried to stop my breaks, I knew that I was not that serious about doing the three things and that I was slacking off.
This told me that I had a serious problem, so I decided to be strict with myself. I stopped watching television, reading the newspaper, and watching others play games. I started to concentrate fully when I did the three things. My health improved.
I learned my lesson. We cannot slack off, and we should be steadfast practitioners and believe in Master and the Fa. All practitioners, especially veteran practitioners, should remember Master's teaching of “...always cultivating as if you were just starting ...” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference IX)
