(Minghui.org) I recently experienced the symptoms of high blood pressure. My heartbeat was rapid and irregular, I felt dizzy, and noticed a trembling sensation in my chest.
Shortly after I began practicing Falun Gong, I enlightened to the fact that my body no longer had any illnesses. When I occasionally felt unwell, I regarded it as a manifestation of illness karma. Thus, it's been relatively easy for me to pass these xinxing tests.
However, my last bout of sickness karma lasted over a month. When the thought, “Perhaps I have high blood pressure,” flashed across my mind, I immediately became alert and started to rid myself of this fear-based mindset.
I then noticed that my head was becoming increasingly swollen, making it hard to keep calm and rational.
I thought: “No one else is home. If I suffer a stroke, wouldn't that damage Dafa's image? If my blood pressure keeps climbing, I could be dead in no time flat!”
All of a sudden, I had a severe headache and became so lightheaded that I could barely sit up.
I often tell everyday people to recite “Falun Dafa is good,” especially when they're feeling unwell or facing challenging situations. So, I decided to take my own advice and do the same.
After a while, another thought crossed my mind: “There's something good about this tribulation, however, you fail to see it because you're only focusing on your discomfort.”
Immediately my symptoms disappeared. I sat up and quickly recalled Master's words.
Master said,
“Some say that while studying the Fa they encounter such-and-such things. This is something I often say: once you take up Dafa, whatever it is you encounter--good or bad--it is a good thing (applause), for it came about only because you cultivate in Dafa. Some students experience all sorts of hardships after taking up Dafa. If you didn't cultivate, those tribulations would lead to your destruction. But precisely because you do cultivate in Dafa, even though the pressure you face is great when the hardships come at you earlier than they would have, and the tests of your xinxing are tough to pass--and sometimes the tests may be huge--when all is said and done, those hardships are all things you need to overcome, they are accounts you need to settle, tabs that you need to pay. (Audience laughs) Aren't they great things, then? So whether it is good things or bad things you run into, so long as you cultivate in Dafa, they are all positive, to be sure.” (from Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005)
I now have a new understanding of Master's words. Amidst trying situations, we can't use human notions to correctly assess what's going on. If we do, we're liable to regard our circumstances as something “bad,” or negative, instead of as “good” or positive!
