(Minghui.org) Mr. Shi Qiang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dongying City, was sentenced to a two-year prison term by the Dongying District Court on September 18, 2016. He appealed, but the Dongying City Court upheld the original judgment on December 30, 2016.
Mr. Shi's father and older brother went to the Binhai Detention Center to visit him on January 5, 2017, but were denied entry by the guard.
At the request of the family, the guard called his supervisor, who said, “Shi Qiang has not dropped the appeal, and his family is not allowed to visit him.”
The family then called their attorney. The attorney told them that the second trial was over, and that Mr. Shi could meet with his family as permitted by law. The detention center authorities did not waiver however, and the family had to leave.
According to the attorney, Mr. Shi looked emaciated during his last visit. He has been in the detention center for over a year, has not been provided adequate nutrition, and is forced to do hard labor.
His family is very worried.
Mr. Shi, in his forties, is an employee of the Shengli Oilfield. He was arrested more than a year ago on July 21, 2015, along with 11 other practitioners. The Binhai Police Department made the arrests under the order of the 610 Office of Shengli Oilfield.
The Dongying District Procuratorate has twice previously returned Mr. Shi's case to the Binhai Police Department due to insufficient evidence.
