(Minghui.org) I am nearly 70 years old and live in Hebei Province. Though I’m not a Falun Dafa practitioner, I am aware of Falun Dafa and the importance of adhering to its principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
When my developmentally disabled grandson was about 20 years old and living with me, he worked in the provincial capital where he could find temporary jobs. However, last year, he couldn't find work for several months, and told me that he had a few classmates in Beijing and wanted to go there to explore.
I kindly suggested that he shouldn't go to this unfamiliar place, as it isn't safe for him to go alone. I said, “Just take some time to look for local jobs; it doesn’t matter how much you make. At least we won't have to worry about you being so far away.”
However, he secretly bought a ticket and went to Beijing in March. After he left, I only received two phone calls from him. We tried to call him numerous times, but his phone was down. I knew that he was in trouble.
I felt responsible because he had been staying with me. I was so worried that I couldn't eat or sleep, and kept crying when I remembered our happy times together.
Friends came to visit and comfort me.
In the past, my neighbors had previously told me of people who knew about Falun Dafa and had received blessings for believing in its principles. They had left me some reading materials, which I shared with my grandson and told him all about it.
After my grandson disappeared, my family tried to find him. One day my son called me and said that my grandson had been spotted at the border between inner Mongolia and Mongolia. I managed to get him on the phone and I was so relieved after talking to him. My family searched everywhere for several months, and finally my grandson came back.
He recounted his harrowing story to me:
When he arrived in Beijing, he worked on repairing roads near the Si-Huan area. After a period of time, he wanted to find an easier job, and some people introduced him to a job agency.
He was pushed into a van after arriving at the agency, and his cell phone, money, and belongings were taken away. An old man and a younger man were also in the van, and none of them were allowed to talk.
They traveled along mountainous roads, and arrived at the border between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia where they were sold to local human traffickers.
They were forced to work all day, and had no freedom. Many other people there had been kidnapped, including several college students.
My grandson later heard that the two men who were in the van with him tried to escape. However, they were caught and almost beaten to death. He never saw them again.
My grandson also tried to escape. He said that he felt his only hope was to recite again and again, “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
He found his chance to escape and took it. He added that wearing a Falun Dafa amulet around his neck helped him escape his captors.
After this incident, I decided to share my thoughts with everyone. Nowadays, moral standards have declined rapidly, and people only pursue profit.
Yet, while anyone may encounter misfortune like my grandson, as long as they have a kind heart towards Dafa—and believe and sincerely recite “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good”—they may indeed overcome their hardships and see a light at the end of the tunnel.
