(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xueyan, 39, was sentenced to seven years in prison. Her appeal was denied, and the original sentence was upheld.
In July 2015, a 70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Wuzhong City was arrested on the street by the police. The officers found legal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin in her bag that she had not yet mailed. The police forced the elderly practitioner to reveal the location of where the complaints had been printed.
The police identified Ms. Zhang Xueyan as the person who had helped the older practitioner print the complaints. She was later arrested.
Ms. Zhang was a teacher in Wuzhong City First Middle School in Ningxia Autonomous Region. She was arrested on November 10, 2015. The local Domestic Security officers ransacked her home and car. They seized her computer, cash and many personal belongings.
Ms. Zhang was tried by the Litong District Court in July 2016 and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. She tried to appeal the decision on December 19, 2016 but her appeal was rejected.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of this brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
