(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), under the personal direction of its former head Jiang Zemin, initiated a violent campaign against Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Since then, practitioners of Falun Gong have been systematically arrested, imprisoned, forced to undergo brainwashing, tortured, and even killed for their organs.
Jiang established a security department known as the “610 Office” to carry out his orders against Falun Gong. The unit is outside all restrictions of law and supersedes police actions and the entire judicial system to carry out Jiang's directives: to “ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.”
The 610 Office and CCP government agents working under its orders have used extreme measures to wipe out Falun Gong practitioners for the last 17 years.
‘Ruin their reputations’
The CCP makes up all sorts of lies to demonize Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners. It mobilizes the government-controlled media—over 2,000 newspapers, 1,000 magazines, hundreds of TV and radio stations, as well as innumerable websites—to promote its propaganda and pollute people’s minds. Ordinary Chinese who do not know anything about Falun Gong have no other way to learn about Falun Gong except from government controlled media.
The CCP sponsors assemblies and conferences at every level of the government and judiciary throughout China. Every department and agency are drawn in. Institutions, corporations, schools, the military, neighborhood associations, down to the smallest village are shown how to bring down the practice. At these assemblies the CCP publicly criticizes Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners themselves are forced to stand up and publicly criticize other practitioners as a way to show their loyalty to the CCP.
The CCP has created a horrifying environment throughout China. Armed soldiers and police guard the major roads leading to Beijing. Guards in armored vehicles set up check points at railroad stations, harbors, and airports. They force passengers to curse Falun Gong and the founder of Falun Gong before they can pass through the check points. Some places even force people to step on the portrait of the founder of Falun Gong.
The CCP spreads its agenda outside China, too. Chinese consulates around the world control overseas Chinese organizations to stir up hatred.
Falun Gong practitioners who were high-ranking officials are demoted regardless of work performance.
Family members of Falun Gong practitioners are negatively affected. Relatives cannot attend college, be promoted at work, or join the military even if they meet all the requirements and have the credentials.
‘Cut off their financial resources’
Falun Gong practitioners are fired from work if they refuse to renounce their faith. The Chinese regime sets up barriers that make it almost impossible for employers to hire Falun Gong practitioners.
Every Chinese citizen must carry an ID. Falun Gong practitioners’ ID cards are confiscated and, without this official document, no practitioner can find work or travel out of their town to find a job.
Police and other law enforcement agents extort money from Falun Gong practitioners and their families. They also receive a bonus when they arrest a Falun Gong practitioner.
In the countryside, practitioners’ farms are confiscated even though they have a legal contract of ownership with the local municipality.
In the city, some practitioners’ homes are ransacked. Retired practitioners’ pensions are withheld. Some have no other option but to sell home-made food on the street to make ends meet.
Business owners’ permits are suspended if they refuse to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. They are forced to close their business and go into bankruptcy.
‘Destroy them physically’
Personal freedom restricted
Practitioners are followed wherever they go and subjected to illegal interrogation and detention.
Practitioners are arrested and given prison sentences if they gather with other practitioners at home or to share their materials with others. Latest estimates are that more than one million practitioners have been arrested and sent to detention centers, prisons, or forced labor camps in the past 17 years.
Local governments require all their departments and neighborhood associations to send a certain number of practitioners to brainwashing centers. If the brainwashing centers fail to force enough practitioners to give up their faith, the practitioners are transferred to labor camps.
Corporal punishment and torture
Practitioners are tortured brutally if they do not give to their torturers the names of other practitioners. The most brutal torture methods that government agents use on practitioners are shocks with electric batons, beatings, kicking with hard boots, extreme stretching of the body, and whippings. It is estimated that thousands of practitioners have died from torture.
In winter practitioners are forced to stand bare-foot in the snow. They are ordered to carry logs to one spot and then back again. Some are forced to wear a bedpan on their head for long periods. Some may be locked in cells with moldy walls and no windows. The cells have no toilet facilities and practitioners are forced to defecate on the floor.
If practitioners go on a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution and brutal torture, they are subjected to brutal force feeding. Many die this way.
Practitioners are forced to carry on unpaid, intense labor for 14 to 15 hours daily. Some practitioners lose their nails after toiling through hours of persistent hard labor, some practitioners’ arms are paralyzed, and some have died in the labor camps.
Savage sexual assault, injections of poison, and lock-ups in mental hospitals
CCP agents use sexual assault against Falun Gong practitioners in unbelievable ways. The most notorious sexual assaults took place at the Masanjia labor camp. Camp guards stripped 18 female practitioners of their clothes and then locked them up in cells with males, where they were gang raped. Over ten died from the assaults and many who survived lost their minds.
CCP agents injected poisonous drugs into practitioners as a way to kill them. Many died, some lost their memory, and the others became mentally disoriented.
Taking human organs from living people
A major source of organ transplants performed at military hospitals are unwilling Falun Gong practitioners. It is estimated that tens of thousands of Falun Gong prisoners of conscience have been killed to supply China’s lucrative trade in human organs.
According to the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), the orders for removing organs from living practitioners came directly from Jiang Zemin, who was the former chair of the Chinese Military Commission. Every level of the Chinese military—the Chinese Army General Hospital, Military General Staff Hospital, the CCP’s seven military hospitals, four affiliated hospitals of the Military Medical University, and most of its Armed Police Corp hospitals—have participated in these atrocities.
