(Minghui.org) “The new prison guard forced me to stand for long periods of time. I could not endure it and yelled out, 'Falun Dafa is good.' The guard then knocked out one of my front teeth and put me in solitary confinement for two weeks,” Ms. Li Meiling told her family during their recent visit on August 17, 2016.
Ms. Li is a Falun Gong practitioner in her 40s who is incarcerated for her belief in Shandong Province Women's Prison.
Due to the abuse, Ms. Li became emaciated and was hospitalized for seven days afterwards. Each meal she was given consisted only of one small bun.
The prison guard who monitored her conversation with her family ordered her to stop talking about the mistreatment and threatened to cut her off. Ms. Li's family felt that she was courageous to expose the abuse she was subjected to.
Her family had previously noticed a missing tooth when they visited her in May. However, Ms. Li said that it fell out by itself. The family suspected that Ms. Li did not dare to tell the truth while under surveillance.
The family then wrote letters to prison officials to report the mistreatment.
When they tried to see her in June, they were told that Ms. Li was in solitary confinement and that they were not allowed to see her.
The guards took turns watching Ms. Li and tortured her in various ways. They pinched her when she did the Falun Gong exercises. She then tried to do the exercises during shower time. The guards found out and forbid her from using the restroom.
Ms. Li was arrested while selling noodles at Laixi market on December 13, 2014. She was sentenced to three years in prison and has been held in Shandong Province Women's Prison since early 2015.
Ms. Li's health is poor, and she is in need of medical treatment.
