(Minghui.org) A married couple from Yinchuan City has been detained beyond the legally permissible term for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Their family is calling for their immediate release.

Ms. Shan Jining and her husband Mr. Wang Desheng were arrested in neighboring Shizuishan City last November. The Shizuishan City Procuratorate had twice dismissed the couple’s case citing insufficient evidence, but the local police are still refusing to release them at the time of writing.

Ms. Shan was beaten on multiple occasions because she refused to cooperate with the police during interrogation. She is now in a dire condition, but her family is not allowed to see her.

This is not the first time that the couple has been targeted for their faith. Ms. Shan was twice given forced labor and once sentenced to prison, having spent more than a decade incarcerated. Mr. Wang was imprisoned for eight years.
