(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners have clarified the facts about the practice and the persecution at many tourist sites. We have in the past been mindful of how we came across to the tourists. I have noticed lately that some practitioners, including myself, no longer pay enough attention to their appearance and behavior.
Perhaps we have become complacent and forgotten that our appearance can affect whether people listen to us or not. Maybe in our haste to get there we hurry, and forget to pay enough attention to our appearance and nonverbal behavior.
One practitioner wanted me to take a photo at one of the sites. She straightened up her clothes and hair, and put on a nice smile.
This made me realize that if we try to maintain a good appearance for a photo, then we should also look presentable while greeting tourists and talking about Falun Dafa.
In my opinion, we should always pay attention to our words and actions, as we represent Dafa. A peaceful look during the meditation and a smile on our face when we talk to tourists can make a big difference in getting our point across.
Our wardrobe should be business casual. Everyone should have well groomed hair, and females can use light makeup.
Proper behavior such as not shouting and not following people too closely will help everyone feel more comfortable. We also need to be aware that we are there to talk to the tourists, and not to each other.
We do not want to push people away or give them a bad impression of Falun Dafa. If a fellow practitioner is not acting appropriately, we can kindly point it out to them.
Think about it, are there people who have not been saved because of our behavior? It is important to do well in all regards, so as not to leave anyone with a negative impression of Falun Dafa.
We should be more consistent with ourselves, and can point things out kindly with compassion.
We want as many people as possible to know the truth about Falun Dafa, and everything that we think, do, and say has an effect.
Master said,
“You think that everything is so simple, and you feel that every move, every thought of yours is all very natural and simple. ‘It's not a big deal, is it? What’s a big deal?’ What do you mean by ‘not a big deal’?! Your responsibility is enormous! How could it not be a big deal?!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)
I am not writing this article to criticize other practitioners, or because I have done particularly well in this regard myself. I recognized a very strong attachment within myself, and I was almost to the point of behaving like an ordinary person.
I truly hope that we can all be more diligent and improve. We do not want to have any regrets in the future.
