(Minghui.org) Mr. Xu Shuhua was arrested in the Guangzhou City Train Station on June 12, 2016, after Falun Gong books were discovered in his bag.
According to Mr. Xu's lawyer, who met with Mr. Xu on July 16, Mr. Xu took Train Z201 in Changsha City to return home to Guangzhou City.
A young man sat across from him. When the young man boarded the train, a crew member noticed that his ticket did not match his identification (ID). Crew members confiscated his ID.
When the train arrived at Shaoguan Train Station around 2:15 p.m., a marshal captain (number 090348), a young male marshal, and a female crew member searched the young man's luggage, suspicious that he was carrying drugs.
Mr. Xu, who also had three bags, was suspected of being the young man's partner, so they searched his bags, too. Mr. Xu was very cooperative. He opened his two large suitcases and took everything out. The marshals didn't trust Mr. Xu and searched the suitcases themselves.
The marshals noticed a red bag on his bunk and asked to see it. Mr. Xu told them that it was only books, but they suspected it contained drugs. When they saw it had Falun Gong books inside, the marshals confiscated Mr. Xu's belongings.
Mr. Xu noticed that they had been videorecording the entire time and said that they had no right to take videos without his permission. The marshals then limited his movements. They did not let him use the restroom or call his daughter.
At the train in Guangzhou, more than 20 plainclothes officers from the local police station surrounded him, videorecorded him, and asked if he was Xu Shuhua, which Mr. Xu acknowledged.
They handcuffed him behind his back and bruised his arms. About seven officers carried him to the police station, where they pulled his arms apart and handcuffed each hand to a wall fixture.
Other officers came in and searched Mr. Xu's luggage. Mr. Xu had two wallets, one for large bills and the other for change. When they counted his money, they saw 10 paper bills with Falun Gong information written on them.
Mr. Xu was taken into a small room and restrained on a tiger bench while the police interrogated him.
