(Minghui.org) A Jingmen City resident was seized on his way to work on March 19, 2015 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The local procuratorate twice returned Mr. Meng Xianglong’s case to police, citing insufficient evidence. The local 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with eradicating Falun Gong and given power to override the judicial system, still pressured the court to hold a trial against Mr. Meng on November 3, 2015.
Mr. Meng’s lawyer entered a not guilty plea for him, as no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong. The judge adjourned the hearing without issuing a verdict.
According to insiders, Mr. Meng was later sentenced to 4.5 years, but his family cannot verify the verdict, as there has been no official notice from the court.
His family recently learned that he had been transferred to Fanjiatai Prison about one month ago. They are extremely concerned about his well-being. He had spent five years in the same prison from 2000 to 2005 for practicing Falun Gong. They still remember how much brutal torture he went through.
