(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners went to Hurstville, a central business district in the southern suburb of Sydney with the greatest concentration of Chinese residents, to tell people the facts about Falun Gong on March 15, 2015.
Many residents who took the time to learn about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China also signed a petition calling for an end to the outrage.
People sign a petition after hearing the facts about Falun Gong.
Sahil Sharma, a software engineer at a local IT company, said he had heard about live organ harvesting but did not know details. After reading about it, he was shocked: “This is really, really bad. And it should not be happening.” He said the Australian government and other governments should work together to end this brutal practice.
He also signed a petition to show his support and said, “This is too important to ignore.”
Bruce Butler is from Korea. His mother, who is Chinese, had already told him about forced live organ harvesting. He knew the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had done many bad things besides this. By signing the petition, he hoped to help end this inexcusable atrocity.
Local practitioner Alex said that many people he spoke to were supportive once they heard the facts about Falun Gong. They took materials to read and signed petitions to help.
“A couple from Malaysia was appalled by the organ harvesting from living practitioners. Another passerby stopped to read and encouraged us: 'What you are doing is great. Please keep it up!'” said Alex.
A passerby accepts materials to learn more.
Residents stop and ask questions about Falun Gong and the persecution in China
Yu, a practitioner volunteer at the event, said that many Chinese had realized that they had been brainwashed by the CCP to think badly of Falun Gong. One of them had joined the CCP's Young Pioneers in elementary school before immigrating to Australia.
“After I told him about the bad things the CCP had done that harmed so many Chinese people, especially during the persecution of Falun Gong, he readily agreed to quit the Party. He was also interested in Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and knew the CCP was undermining China's future.”
Yu also spoke with a high-ranking official from China. After being reminded of the terrible things the Party was responsible for and that he risked going down with it, he gladly quit the organization.
One older man said his son had been arrested in China for practicing Falun Gong, and he did not understand why practitioners were so determined in their belief.
Yu explained, “If none of us has the courage to stand up for what is right, society will be at risk. There is nothing wrong with becoming a better person following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
The old man thought for a while and nodded.
Another person from Taiwan read several brochures about Falun Gong and the persecution in China. As he left, he thanked Yu, saying, “Freedom of belief is a basic human right. And we all need to protect it.”
