(Minghui.org) Returning to school after the winter break, middle school teacher Ms. Fan Yingcan was thinking about how to help her students prepare for upcoming high school entrance exams.
School administrators had other plans for Ms. Fan, not of their own making. “You can't teach here anymore. As to what we will do with you, it hasn't been decided yet.”
This was the official word from the school following intense pressure from the extralegal agency that persecutes people who practice Falun Gong, the 610 Office.
Ms. Fan teaches at Railroad Middle School in Handan, Hebei Province. Before she left for this year's winter break in February, the principal had already begun to talk to her and tried to force her to write statements renouncing her belief in Falun Gong. She was given until June to give up Falun Gong.
According to the school's administrator, the 610 Office has been using various means to “transform” all the Falun Gong practitioners in their districts, from provincial to county levels.
When Ms. Fan refused to compromise her belief, the school leadership vilified Falun Gong during a staff meeting just before the break. The principal claimed that higher authorities made them do it.
During winter break, the principal arranged for school staff to monitor Ms. Fan. They also suspended her 5,000 yuan bonus awarded for excellent teaching performance.
This was the second time Ms. Fan was persecuted for her belief. In 2011, she was arrested and detained for 21 days. Again, for refusing to write statements renouncing her faith at her release, the school withheld her 2,600 yuan bonus.
