(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in China have resisted persecution with peaceful means for the past 16 years.
They risk their own safety to help people understand the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution and appeal to people's conscience. Many individuals, including policemen and judicial system employees, are now choosing to support practitioners.
When an elderly practitioner was distributing informational materials about the persecution, she was arrested. Still, another policeman found an opportunity to release her and told her to be careful of her safety.
Another practitioner was arrested while distributing materials in an apartment complex. A policeman visited him at the detention center before he was sent to a forced labor camp and gave him a tip. “Request an eye exam when you get to the labor camp,” he said.
The practitioner did as he said, and the labor camp refused to admit him due to eye problems. He was released four days later.
A procuratorate once persecuted many practitioners by sending them to illegal trials. Some practitioners exposed his bad deeds and revealed his contact information online. Other practitioners called or wrote him letters, which gave him the opportunity to learn the truth behind the persecution.
After he understood the truth, he told a practitioner that he received over 20 phone calls a day. “I will not participate in the persecution of Falun Gong anymore,” he said. “I will find ways to help practitioners.” He once informed other practitioners soon after a practitioner was arrested, enabling them to begin rescue efforts. The practitioner was released one hour later.
Two policemen often beat and framed practitioners. Local practitioners found their addresses, photos, resumes, and information about their family members. Their bad deeds were thus exposed online and through their neighborhoods. Their supervisors, colleagues, classmates, neighbors, and friends all received information about their crimes.
The two policemen quit persecuting Falun Gong practitioners after the exposure. Other police officers who knew about this also stopped collaborating with the persecution.
The former Domestic Security Chief in my area arrested over 10 practitioners. But he had a change of heart when he learned the truth behind the persecution, and he ceased his involvement by transferring to another division. He also made several requests to get his name removed from the list of evildoers.
On another occasion, several Falun Gong practitioners went to the local 610 Office to ask for the release of a detained practitioner. The staff member there said that he had read many Falun Gong pamphlets and knew the truth.
“Ask the practitioner to pay attention to her safety,” he said. “If she's sent to me, I can let her go. But if she's sent to another place, there's not much I can do.” He also treated the practitioners to lunch.
A practitioner was arrested in 1999. The police extorted 5,000 yuan from his family before his release, and for 10 years, he tried to get the money back. In 2010, the township chief returned the 5,000 yuan to him. In turn, the practitioner donated the money to fix some roads in his village.
