(Minghui.org) On November 13, 2012, the Dadukou District Court in Chongqing City held a trial and illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Xizhen to three years of imprisonment.
Ms. Guo Xizhen, 55, lived in Qiezixi, Dadukou District, Chongqing City. On August 19, 2012, officials from the Dadukou District Domestic Security Division arrested her. Later, they conspired with officials from the local procuratorate and court to put her on trial.
During the trial, the Dadukou District Court falsely charged Ms. Guo Xizhen with “sabotaging state law by using evil organizations.” The police officers had ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, DVD recorder, scanner, DVDs, cash, Falun Gong books and other materials. The court then used these materials as evidence and sentenced Ms. Guo Xizhen to prison.
At the court, Ms. Guo Xizhen refused to recognize the lawyer that the court officials had appointed. She defended her innocence on her own. She said to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials:
“I didn’t commit any crime. It’s you who are committing crimes. You are persecuting good people who follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I am following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. What crimes did I commit? The DVDs and truth-clarifying materials are all for helping people to improve their character. You can show these to the public and let everyone comment. Is what I did good or bad? Is it a crime to teach people how to become good? I ask the judges here, please: Do you abide by the law? The laws state that citizens have freedom of belief, speech, the press and other rights. I ask the judges: Which laws did I violate or sabotage by possessing Falun Gong books, materials, and DVDs? As a Chinese citizen, I am just exercising my rights within the limits of China's laws. What crimes did I commit? Falun Gong has widely spread everywhere in the world, and the practice is well protected by the laws in other countries…”
The judge tried to stop her by interrupting her and saying, “What you are saying is not related to this case.”
Ms. Guo Xizhen questioned him, “Why is it not related? You broke down the anti-theft door of my home. You forced your way into our residential home and took away my books, materials and equipment. And now you are using these items as evidence to sentence me. Why is my speaking out the truth not related to my case?”
The judge did not know how to reply to her. He just told an official to announce Ms. Guo Xizhen’s history of having been twice held in a detention center, twice in a brainwashing center, two years in a labor camp, and having been persecuted in other ways.
Ms. Guo Xizhen said, “Those facts are actually evidence to show how the authorities are persecuting me, brutally and illegally. The facts are evidence of you are persecuting good persons. A political party is deceiving and persecuting ordinary citizens by spreading lies. You have all watched or heard the truth about the staged self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square. You all are here because you are either judges or police officers, so you should be sharper than the average person. The self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square was staged by the CCP…”
Before Ms. Guo Xizhen finished her defense statement, the judge stopped her for a second time. He announced the guilty verdict and quickly closed the case.
