(Minghui.org) Ms. Jiang Zhengxiang was arrested at her home on the evening of June 20, 2012 by officers from the Macheng City 610 Office, Macheng Police Department, Zhongyi Township Police Station and the Dongmen Village Committee. They ransacked her house and confiscated her MP3 player, mobile phones, DVD players and other personal belongings. She was then taken to the Macheng No.2 Detention Center.
Ms. Jiang is a farmer and it is now a critical time for harvesting their crops. Her family is preparing to appeal against her detention, requesting that those involved with the arrest pay compensation for the financial losses incurred by her detention and that they immediately release Ms. Jiang unconditionally.
In 1991, a flood swept through Yingji Village in Zhongyi Township, demolishing many buildings. Many villagers, including Ms. Jiang’s family, had to rebuild their homes. This expense required them to increase the debts they already owed. With the added expense of school fees for their two children, Ms. Jiang and her husband had to work very hard to repay their debts. As a result, Ms. Jiang developed various illnesses and ended up bedridden. She was in her early forties at the time. When it seemed that she was at her lowest point in life, somebody introduced her to Falun Gong.
After reading the book Zhuan Falun for just three months and conducting herself according to the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” Ms. Jiang was able to get up, move around, and do housework and farm work.
However, since July 1999 Ms. Jiang has been subject to harassment and persecution because she refuses to renounce her belief in Falun Gong. She has been repeatedly arrested and her home has been ransacked many times.
Officers from Zhongyi Police Station broke into Ms. Jiang’s home on January 21, 2001. They confiscated her Dafa books and detained her at the police station for 42 days. She was later held at the Macheng No.1 Detention Center for over three months. During her detention she was forced to pay 3,500 yuan in cash and was subjected to various forms of torture, such as having large amounts of her hair pulled out, having her mouth stuffed with dirty sanitary napkins, her head scalded with boiling water and the soles of her feet burnt with a cigarette lighter. They also hit her around the torso with a wooden chair. When the chair broke, they removed her shoes and socks, and used the pieces of broken chair to beat her bare feet.
More than a dozen police broke into her home again in 2007 and confiscated all her Dafa books and a picture of Master Li Hongzhi. They also arrested her husband and detained him in the Macheng No.2 Detention Center for 15 days. From 2001 to 2007 Ms. Jiang’s home was ransacked at least six times.
