(Minghui.org) Pingdu City Court officials informed Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Guangwei's family on July 21, 2012 that a court hearing would be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 27. Mr. Wang's family hired two lawyers from Beijing to enter a not-guilty plea for Mr. Wang, and at the same time, circulated a letter to the local people, inviting them to attend the court procedures. Pingdu 610 Office agents and Domestic Security Division officers were in a panic when they discovered this. They harassed and threatened those who had received the invitation. They also fabricated evidence against Ms. Sun Suling, wife of Mr. Wang Guangwei, and searched for her everywhere.
Mr. Wang Guangwei, a farmer in Wangjiazhuang Village, Landi Town, Pingdu, was illegally arrested on March 14, 2012 by officers from the Landi Town police. His home was ransacked and he has been held in the Pingdu Detention Center. On the night Mr. Wang was arrested, police officer Liu Jie ruthlessly beat him, stomped on and ground Mr. Wang's head into the ground, kicked his legs and slapped his face with a book. Mr. Wang was beaten for about an hour. The Pingdu City Procuratorate submitted his case to the Pingdu City court on July 13, and the court scheduled a trial at 2:00 p.m. on July 27.
Afraid of people attending the trial, the 610 Office manipulated the court to postpone the trial. They threatened people who wanted to attend the court session, forcing those who received the letters of invitation, as well as Mr. Wang's relatives to sign a document at the Landi Police Station attesting to fabricated “evidence” in an attempt to frame Ms. Sun Suling, Mr. Wang Guangwei's wife. They also planned to arrest her, and have mounted a search for her.
It is still unknown when Mr. Wang Guangwei's case will be tried at court.
