Additional Persecution News from China – July 20, 2012 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In the report, 11 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dongguan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Gao Guoyuan in Critical Condition

Mr. Gao Guoyuan was arrested on June 4, 2012 and was taken to the Dongzheng Police Station. He was sent to the Dongguan City No. 2 Detention Center the next day and has remained there for over one month. He has become extremely skinny due to mistreatment there, and his whole body has shrunk. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall , but now he looks like a child of 12 or 13 years old. His hands and face are out of shape and his weight has dropped to less than 110 pounds. He is forced to wear chains on his feet.

Mr. Gao's elder sister Ms. Gao Qiying was persecuted to death in February 2010. Mr. Gao has been persecuted many times as well.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaonan Being Held in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Zhang Xiaonan from Sujiatun District was arrested on May 13 for handing out informational materials about Falun Gong in residential quarters. She was sent to the No. 3 Team of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a one-year term. Family visits have not been allowed so far.

3. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Junying from Baoqing County Recently Sentenced by Baoqing Court

Ms. Lu Qiuying from Anshan City was arrested on the afternoon of July 13, 2012. Agents ransacked her home in the evening and arrested her mother (also a practitioner) as well. Computers and Falun Gong books were confiscated.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners and Non-practitioners Detained

Seven agents from the Jinzhou City Anti-cult Team went to the residential area of Jinzhou City Heavy Machinery Corporation Ltd. and arrested Ms. Xu Huiping early on the morning of July 19, 2012. They confiscated a computer, cash, a bank debit card, and other items. Ms. Xu's son, a primary school pupil, was left home alone, terrified.

On the same morning, Chan Xuezhi and other officers went to Goujia Village, Xingshan Community, in Jinzhou Economy Development Zone, and arrested Mr. Liu Jinfu. Mr. Liu's home was ransacked. His wife, who was not able to take care of her own daily needs, along with his daughter, were left home alone. Mr. Liu is being held in the Jinzhou Detention Center.

Mr. Wang Zhimin managed to get away when officers went to Goujia Village and attempted to arrest him. Officers then took his wife, Ms. Hong Guirong, to the Xingshan Police Station.

Ms. Wang Guixia from Jinzhou City managed to escape when officers ransacked her home at around 5:00 a.m. the same morning. Mr. Cao Liming from Jinzhou City was also harassed. He managed to escape, but his sister, a non-practitioner, was detained. Her whereabouts are unknown.

6. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Xiaobo Arrested

Officers from the Yian County State Security Bureau and the Yian County No. 2 Police Station opened Mr. Zhang Xiaobo's home with a master key and ransacked it on the morning of July 17, 2012. They confiscated Falun Gong books and other items, and took Mr. Zhang to the Qiqihar City No. 1 Detention Center.

7. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Mr. Xu Chengzhong Arrested

Mr. Xu Chengzhong from Huainan City was arrested by two plainclothes officers wearing white coats as soon as he walked downstairs from his home on the morning of July 18, 2012. The police had been monitoring him for a long time.

8. [Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wei Chongli and Mr. Chen Xing Arrested

Officers from the Feng County Police Department and the Xuzhou City Police Department arrested 11 practitioners in a practitioner's home in Xuzhou City on May 12, 2012. Among those arrested were Ms. Wei Chongli, 50, and Mr. Chen Xing from Feng County. They are being held in the Feng County Detention Center.

Ms. Wei Chongli was forced to peel garlic in detention and her finger broke as a result. Her health is poor. Ms. Wei was sent to the Dafeng Forced Labor Camp in Yancheng to serve a term of 21 months, but she was not admitted due to her poor health and was taken back to the Feng County Detention Center.

Mr. Chen Xing was cruelly beaten during interrogation. He was detained for a term of 15 months.

9. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fu Chunhua and Ms. Zhang Shuxiang Persecuted

Ms. Fu Chunhua, 69, was reported to the police and arrested for explaining facts about Falun Gong to rural workers on July 2, 2012. Her rented house was ransacked by officers from the Wendeng Domestic Security Division on July 4. Several copies of the book Zhuan Falun, printouts of articles by Falun Gong's founder, and Minghui Weekly were confiscated.

Ms. Fu was detained for two weeks and was about to be sent to a forced labor camp. Her daughter spent a large amount of money to get help from someone, and was able to get her mother released on parole.

Elderly Ms. Zhang Shuxiang called Ms. Fu on July 3, 2012. Ms. Fu's cell phone was already in police custody at the time. A woman answered the phone, claiming she was Ms. Fu's daughter. Ms. Zhang told her that she was going to stop by Ms. Fu's home and drop off some bamboo chair cushions that she had bought for Ms. Fu. Ms. Zhang was arrested by officers who had been waiting for her as soon as she walked into the building. Ms. Zhang's home was ransacked that day. Her son-in-law took her home at around 6:00 p.m.

Ms. Zhang was arrested again by officers from the Longshan Police Station for speaking to people about Falun Gong. Because she was over 70 years old, her daughter was able to take her home again.

10. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Wang Jigui Detained

Mr. Wang Jigui, 56, is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. He was arrested on the afternoon of July 18, 2012 for handing out informational materials about Falun Gong in Nanguan Village, Pingding County, Shanxi Province. Ren Fuxiang and four others from the local 610 Office ransacked his home in the evening and confiscated two copies of Pure Insight Weekly, a copy of Recalling Experiences with Master with Gratitude, a copy of Notice of Characters Changes, an informational VCD about Falun Gong, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, and two pictures of Faluns. It was said that Mr. Wang had been sent to the Yangquan Detention Center that evening.

11. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Han Jingyu and Mr. Gao Jinglin Detained

Director Tong Yanhui and other officers from the Taitoushan Township Police Station in Pingquan County, Hebei Province ransacked Ms. Han Jingyu's home in Xiaojigou Village on the afternoon of July 17, 2012, without presenting any credentials. They confiscated two bags of informational materials about Falun Gong and arrested 72-year-old Ms. Han. They then barged into Mr. Gao Jinglin's home. Mr. Gao was watching programs on New Tang Dynasty Television. They took pictures of that, confiscated the set-top box, and arrested Mr. Gao. The officers then went to Mr. Yu Hanying's home and confiscated two VCDs.

12. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Attempt to Arrest Ms. Liu Yuru Failed

Wang Xiaofeng and others from the Domestic Security Division of Pingquan County Police Department went to Ms. Liu Yuru's workplace on the morning of July 18, 2012, in an attempt to arrest Ms. Liu, but they did not succeed. They then threatened her workplace and her family that she would be sent her to the Domestic Security Division that afternoon.

13. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Gao Fangchu Detained

Ms. Gao Fangchu, Ms. Zhou Huaying, and Ms. Feng Meijin were reported to the police and arrested by officers from the Hengnan County Police Department for handing out Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in the Yunji Town Farmer's Market in Hengnan County.

14. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Longmei Detained at Home

Over ten plainclothes officers arrested Ms. Yang Longmei at her home in Qijiang District on the morning of July 13, 2012. Her whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Huimin Arrested

Ms. Zhu Huimin is a retired teacher from the Wuhan City No. 1 Commercial School. On April 24, 2012, officers from the Domestic Security Division of Wuhan City Police Department followed her, then detained her. She was then taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center in Erzhigou, Dongxihu. Officers also broke into her home and confiscated her computer, books, informational materials about Falun Gong, VCDs and other items.

Officers from the Domestic Security Division and agents from Jianghong Community Residential Committee in Nanhu, Wuchang later tricked Ms. Zhu's parents into opening their door, then turned Ms. Zhu Huimin's bedroom upside down. Ms. Zhu's elderly parents' hands were trembling because of anger and sorrow. However, they dared not speak up.

Wuhan City Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of Ms. Zhu in early June. Wuhan City 610 Officers plan to have Ms. Zhu tried and sentenced.

16. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wu Qingmin and His Wife Ms. Zheng Lanrong Detained

Li Fuguo, Sun Jingsen and others from the Domestic Security Division of the Tanghai County Police Department arrested Mr. Wu Qingmin and his wife Ms. Zheng Lanrong at the Center of Tanghai County No. 10 Farm on the morning of July 4, 2012. Mr. Wu is being held in the Tanghai County Detention Center. Ms. Zheng was taken to Shijiazhuang on July 17, 2012.
