Additional Persecution News from China – March 4, 2012 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in eight provinces. In this report, 16 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Qinggang County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhou Yan Illegally Arrested

Mr. Zhou Yan was turned over to the police when he was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to people at around noon on February 13, 2012. The director of the Xinmin Police Station, whose last name is Ma, along with another officer, forcibly took him to the police station. Mr. Zhou's home was ransacked, and he was transferred to a detention center that afternoon.

2. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Harbin Intermediate Court Rejects Ms. Qin Hailong's Appeal of Wrongful Forced Labor Term

Ms. Qin Hailong and her mother, Wang Xiuqing, in Yichun City were arrested on November 13, 2011. Ms. Qin was taken to the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp to serve an illegal term. Her family has hired an attorney to file an administrative review following proper legal procedures.

On the morning of March 2, 2012, labor camp authorities refused to allow Ms. Qin's family and attorney to enter the labor camp to meet her, with the goal of blocking the administrative review. Her family and attorney took the documentation to the Harbin Intermediate Court for an official filing, but the court refused to file the case.

Ms. Qin's father, Mr. Qin Yueming, was also a Falun Gong practitioner, and died from persecution on February 26, 2011 in Jiamusi Prison.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Changhai Arrested

Mr. Li Changhai was illegally arrested and taken to the Jilin City Detention Center.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shuxian Arrested

Ms. Sun Shuxian was arrested by officers from the Hongqi Police Station on the morning of March 3, 2011. The officers also ransacked Ms. Sun's home. Ms. Sun remains in custody at the police station. Her 88-year-old mother is left at home alone.

On February 24, 2012, officers in Shahe City went to Ms. Wang Lihua's home to harass her. The officers ransacked the home and confiscated her personal computer.

6. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Elderly Ms. Yang Xiurong Tortured During Illegal Interrogation

Ms. Li Yuzhi, 64, from Hongshan District, Chifeng City, was turned over to the police on February 29, 2012. The officers confiscated a computer and a large number of other personal belongings at Ms. Li's home. Ms. Li, her daughter Yang Lirong, and Ms. Zhang Cuimin, who was visiting Ms. Li, were also arrested. Ms. Yang, in her forties, and Ms. Zhang, 40, are both Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Yang Xiurong, who is nearly 70 years old, was also arrested.. Ms. Yang Xiurong was tortured with a tightening device during the interrogation.

7. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xia Deyou Remains in Custody

Mr. Xia Deyou and his wife Ms. Li Yinglan were reported to the police when they were clarifying the facts about Falun Gong on the morning of February 9, 2012. Officers from the Chishang Police Station subsequently arrested the couple. The two practitioners were taken to a detention center operated by the Boshan District Domestic Security Division that night. The police also showed up to harass their family, and ransacked their home in the Dongzhuang Village, Chishang Town, Boshan District, Zibo City.

On February 10, Mr. Xia and Ms. Li were forced to take physical examinations and were extorted of 500 yuan. The police later extorted another 3,000 yuan. Ms. Li was found to have severe illness symptoms and was denied admission by labor camp officials, and she returned home. Mr. Xia remains in custody.

8. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Yunxiu Taken to a Forced Labor Camp

On the morning of February 29, 2012, Ms. Liu Yunxiu was arrested at her home in the Xiaozhan area of the Fanzi District, Weifang City, by officers from the Jiulong Neighborhood Administration Office Police Station. She was taken directly to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp.

9. [Wu'an City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Aiying and Her Husband Mr. Wang Hongliang Sentenced to Prison

The No. 1 Criminal Tribunal of the Wu'an City Court, under the jurisdiction of Handan City, held a secret trial without notifying the family or their attorney, and illegally sentenced Ms. Wang Aiying and her husband Mr. Wang Hongliang to prison. On March 2, when their family called the No. 1 Criminal Tribunal, they learned that Ms. Wang had been sentenced to four years in prison, and Mr. Wang to three years.

10. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Jianjun and Other Practitioners Arrested

Five practitioners in Zhangjiakou City, including Mr. Liu Jianjun, Ms. Wang Fengyi, Ms. Gao Yuqin, and Ms. Yang Guiqin, were arrested on the afternoon of February 17, 2012. Ms. Wang managed to escape on the afternoon of February 27.

11. [Tianjin] Ms. An Chunyun Arrested

Ms. An Chunyun in Tianjin managed to escape from police arrest on the evening of February 28, 2012 in the Dagang District. However, she was arrested on the evening of March 2 in the Wuqing District, Tianjin, where she is originally from.

12. [Beijing] Mr. Gao Jianming Arrested

On the morning of March 1, 2012, Mr. Gao Jianming, from the Daxing District, Beijing, was arrested at his home by officers from the Tiantan Police Station, Dongcheng District. Mr. Gao is being held at the Qiliqu Detention Center in the Dongcheng District.

13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Xueqi Arrested

Nie Jijun, an officer from the Yuejin Road Police Station in Chang'an District, Shijiazhuang City, along with local residential committee officials, broke into Ms. Gao Xueqi's home on the evening of February 29, 2012. They ransacked the home, and confiscated Falun Dafa books and truth clarification materials. They ordered Ms. Gao to go to the police station the next morning. Ms. Gao's husband accompanied her to the police station where the police took her into custody.

14. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuling Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yuling was arrested on the morning of March 3, 2012, and her home was ransacked.

15. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Ms. Liu Junying and Two Other Practitioners

On the morning of February 20, 2012, six police officers led by Chen Tieqi, deputy chief of the Baoqing County Police Department, and Sha Shaoliang, head of the Dongcheng Police Station, broke into Ms. Liu Junying's home. The officers ransacked the place, and confiscated a notebook computer, a printer, DVDs, and other items. Ms. Liu and two other practitioners who were at her home, Ms. Lu Jun and Ms. Wang Limin, were arrested. They are being held at the Baoqing County Detention Center.

16. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ju Zongmei Arrested

Ms. Zong Jumei, who is in her mid-fifties, was arrested by officers from the Nanguan Police Station on the morning of March 3, 2012, and taken to the police station. Several officers ransacked her home in the Raotou Village, Gaomi City around noon.

17. [Beiliu City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Liang Zhanghua Forced to Leave Town

Mr. Liang Zhanghua has been forced to leave his home in Beiliu City, Guangxi Autonomous Region. The police ransacked his home twice, and harassed his family.

18. [Pengxi County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Gou Yuejun Arrested

Mr. Gou Yuejun, 60, from No. 8 Production Team in Heye Township, Pengxi County, was arrested by officers from the Heye Police Station on February 28, 2012.

19. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Jiangdong Arrested

Mr. Sun Jiangdong was taken to the Huimin Detention Center on the evening of March 1, 2012.

20. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Additional Information of Mr. Tan Deqing's Arrest

Mr. Tan Deqing is a teacher at the No. 16 Middle School in Huainan City, Anhui Province. He was arrested on February 22, 2012, and sentenced to three years in prison. He was taken to the Suzhou Prison in Anhui Province.

Mr. Sun Tao was taken to the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center on March 2, 2012.

On the afternoon of March 3, 2012, six police officers led by Sun Jingsen, of the Tanghai County Domestic Security Division, arrested Ms. Zheng Jinzhi, Ms. Zheng Xiuhuan, and Mr. Zheng Baokui at Huangtuzhuang in the Bachang area.

23. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhang Yi Arrested--Domestic Security Officers Prevents Attorney from Meeting Her

Ms. Zhang Yi returned from work to her home on Ganquan Road in Putuo District, Shanghai early on the evening of February 1, 2012. She was arrested at the doorstep of her home by officers from the Changning District, who had been waiting in a black car. Ms. Zhang's family has hired an attorney, however the domestic security officers in Changning District have refused to allow the attorney to meet with Ms. Zhang.
