(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist government started openly persecuting Falun Gong. All the media--TV, radio, and newspapers--began defaming Falun Gong and its practitioners with lies. Many people, including my family members and colleagues, were deceived by the lies. My family tried to stop me from practicing my belief by beating, scolding, and insulting me. I was sent to detention centers, a forced labor camp, and a mental hospital to be persecuted. My entire life was turned upside down.
I recited the teachings in Zhuan Falun every day in my heart and faced the abuse with a strong mind and peaceful attitude that I had acquired during my cultivation of Falun Gong. I eventually noticed that my environment started to improve. I went to a different city to work as a migrant worker in a restaurant. I had to clean tables, wash dishes and vegetables, sweep the floor, etc. No matter how dirty the work was, I did it conscientiously. Although I only worked with a few other people under a boss, there were still conflicts between co-workers, and some of them harmed others to benefit themselves. Closely following Dafa's principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was seldom affected by the conflicts or trouble in the workplace. One day at work, my boss criticized another worker, saying, "Look at the trouble you have caused! How can you face me? I feel ashamed for you." My boss's wife told me, "The Falun Dafa you have been practicing is different from what was shown on TV."
When I was in the forced labor camp, my husband divorced me due to the great pressure he was bearing. The first thing I did after I was released was to visit my son, but he wouldn't let me in his house. He told me to get lost and swore at me. His father said that he should not have talked like that, but my son said, "It must be done like this to enemies of our (social) class!" I couldn't help but cry.
At that moment, I remembered what Master had said,
"To endure with anger, grievance, or tears is the forbearance of an everyday person who is attached to his concerns. To endure completely without anger or grievance is the forbearance of a cultivator." ("What is Forbearance (Ren)?" from Essentials for Further Advancement)
I stopped sobbing and my heart began to calm down.
After a period of time, I bought a comforter for my son, though I had little money. I took the comforter and some fruit with me when I went to visit him. When I got there, I washed his bedding and socks and cleaned his shoes. He still swore at me again as I was leaving. I visited him again after a while, and again brought him fruit and did his housework. Eventually, he was willing to talk with me. I then had the chance to share my values and principles. Slowly, he began to accept me and my values.
One day, my son said to me, "Mom, Falun Gong is good." When I asked him why he said that, he answered, "Because of Falun Gong, you have a great attitude, your health has improved, and you are living your life according to principles."
My attitude and actions that I acquired while cultivating validate the beauty of Dafa. My son, my parents, other family members, and my co-workers agree from the bottom of their hearts that Falun Dafa is good.
