(Clearwisdom.net) "Today I brought a busload of seniors here to see this wonderful show!" said Tom Fox, the entertainment coordinator for a local retirement community. "I brought twenty-five seniors, and we are so glad to be here." Mr. Fox had come out on this cold January night in Newark to join an appreciative audience, as Divine Performing Arts swept the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
"Oh this show is just fantastic. It's just top quality -- from the opening act, which is amazing in itself, right to the intermission, which it is now. I'm looking forward to going back in the theater to see the second half!"
"And the colors are amazing! It's all just very, very exciting. The colors and the costumes are fantastic! Anyone in the United States, especially the American people, will just love this. We are glad to be here!"
"I learned a lot today. This was a very enjoyable day. The dances were absolutely spectacular!" enthused another audience member, Barbara, who had also just watched the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) show debut to Newark. Divine Performing Arts showcases China's 5,000-year history through classical Chinese dance, vocal performances and the original score of its music.
"The orchestra is fabulous! Very very good!" exclaimed Barbara. The Divine Performing Arts orchestra uses a classical Western orchestra as its foundation, and augments this with traditional Chinese instruments. This enables its compositions to utilize the potential of Western orchestral music, yet be rich in Chinese qualities. Barbara continued, "I think that this is very impressive, the way the Eastern and Western instruments were combined."
Barbara said that some of the things that she'll also most remember from the show, are the messages conveyed about living in peace and harmony, "To seek the truth, and to respect the truth in everybody," she said.
Barbara continued, "I was very impressed with the costuming. And the grace and the movements of the dancers! Very, very good! I bought the book from the show, and I have the flyer, and when I go home, I'm going to read and refresh what I've learned here today. It was all very informative. I would absolutely come again!"
