(Clearwisdom.net) The global Human Rights Torch Relay was initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG). After the torch arrived in Taiwan on June 1, it has traveled to twenty-three counties and cities throughout Taiwan. Taipei County, the most populous county in Taiwan, was the last leg for the torch relay in Taiwan.
On the morning of June 15, under the guidance of police vehicles, the Human Rights Torch Relay team visited seven main townships including Yinghe, Chinshan, Sanchi, Tanshui, Wuku, Hsinchuang, and Shulin and was welcomed by local representatives and residents.
Yinghe City was the first stop for the human rights torch relay in Taipei County. Chen Yi-chi, a representative from the local government, said, "The Human Rights Torch gathers righteous forces among people, which is most powerful. When it comes to the CCP's persecution of human rights, everyone should speak out and help stop the CCP's atrocities."
When the Human Rights Torch motorcade passed by Chinshan Township, many local people came forward to look. Cao Shi-heng, who was working in a car repair shop, said that he had heard of the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong long before. He felt that the torch relay was very meaningful. Though he could not participate in the running of torch relay, he signed a petition calling for an end of CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. He said with a special edition newsletter on the Human Rights Torch in hand, "I will spread this information and let my family and friends join the effort to protest the persecution."
Chen Shi-kun, a marathon runner, signed the petition and then invited passers-by to sign. He said that he knew Falun Gong to be a cultivation system, but did not know that it was persecuted so brutally in mainland China and that everyone should work together to stop it.
Wugu Township is well known for its industrial park. There are more than one thousand factories and companies there. Through the practitioners' truth-clarification efforts, the local people have come to know the CCP's atrocity of live organ removal. Some said that the Human Rights Torch Relay has effectively exposed the CCP's atrocities and its evil nature.
In Hsinchuang City, the local TV station covered the torch relay. Student Mr. Su said that he learned about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong from the Internet. He said that the CCP's live organ removal should be stopped and signed the petition.
Yulin City was the last stop for the Human Rights Torch Relay in Taipei County. Mayor Chen Shi-jong and local representatives came to welcome the Torch. Mr. Li Kuo-ching, Chairman of the Association of Parents of Yulin Primary School Students, said that freedom and human rights are universal values, and everyone should safeguard them. The relay is a good education opportunity for the children. He requested the CCP to stop religious persecution and the atrocity of live organ removal from Falun Gong practitioners. He said that people throughout the world and international human rights organizations should work together and stop such inhuman cruelty.
