(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 36 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, at least 23 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and 32 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Yunnan Province] Supplementary Information on the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners from Yuxi City Who Are Teachers
Ms. Li Xiulan formerly taught at the Heichun Village Elementary School located in the Hongta District of Chunhe Town. Just because she practices Falun Dafa, she was unlawfully held in custody and taken to forced labor camps three times. She was also imprisoned in the No. 2 Women's Prison of Yunnan Province where she was subjected to inhuman torture. When Ms. Li was finally released, she was forced to leave her job.
Ms. Li Lingzhen was sentenced to three years of forced labor for her steadfast belief in Falun Dafa.
Mr. Fei Xuelong used to be a teacher at the Agriculture School of Yuxi City. He was held unlawfully for three years because he clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to his students. He lost his job when he was released.
Ms. Deng Cuiping used to be a teacher at the Liuzongqi Elementary School located in the Hongta District of Chunhe Town. She was reported to the police when she went with Ms. Hua Lanxian (a retired worker from the Yuxi City Printing Factory) and Ms. Gu Liqin (a retired worker from the Yixi City Station) to the Beicheng District to clarify the truth. Consequently, all three practitioners were unlawfully held in the Eshan Detention Center of Yuxi City for almost six months. Their family members were not allowed to visit. Later, the three practitioners were each sentenced to three years of forced labor. At present, Ms. Deng is still being held and subjected to mistreatment.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Feng Guosong Arrested and His Home Ransacked
At around 6:00 a.m., on February 25, police officers from the Guta District State Security Division and Police Department, as well as several other officers, broke into the home of Mr. Feng Guosong, who, along with his family members, was still asleep. Police unlawfully confiscated two laptop computers, DVDs, Falun Dafa books, and other truth-clarification materials. Among the confiscated items are his personal savings deposit slips.
Mr. Feng's wife was also taken to the Guta District Police Department where she was threatened. Mr. Feng is currently being held in the No. 2 Detention Center of Jinzhou City.
4. [Mount Emei City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Xuzhi Unlawfully Sentenced to One Year of Imprisonment
Ms. Chen Xuzhi is forty-five years old and used to work at the Sichuan Emei Iron Alloy Co. Ltd. In March 2002, she was reported to the police while she was distributing truth-clarification materials inside her workshop. She was then arrested by officers of the Jiuli District Police Station of Mount Emei City and unlawfully taken to a forced labor camp for one year and eight months. She also lost her job. After she was released, she became a part-time worker at her former workplace. On January 9, 2008, when Ms. Chen Xuzhi was not home, personnel from her workplace's Security Office colluded with the Jiuli District Police Station to forcibly break into Ms. Chen's home and unlawfully confiscated Falun Dafa materials. On the following day, they arrested Ms. Chen. On February 25, Ms. Chen Xuzhi was unlawfully sentenced to one year of imprisonment. She is still being held.

5. [Renqiu City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Rujuan from the North China Oil Field Mining Institute Unlawfully Taken into Custody
Ms. Li Rujuan from the North China Oil Field Mining Institute was arrested while she was distributing truth-clarification materials at the North China Oil Field No. 3 Mining Factory on October 9, 2007. She was then taken into custody at the North China Oil Field Detention Center. In December, the Hejian District Court secretly held a trial against Ms. Li Rujian. Ms. Li's family members were planning on appealing the sentence, but the court turned down the appeal and, before her family members were informed, ordered Ms. Li to be secretly taken to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Prison.

Ms. Liu Hongmei was arrested in September 2001. She is being unlawfully held in the No. 7 Division of the Shandong Provincial Women's Prison. During her more than six years of imprisonment, Ms. Liu has been negating the brainwashing and torture, and she has gone on a hunger strike for an extended period of time. At present, due to torture, she is no longer able to walk normally but is nonetheless forced to do daily physical labor by prison guards. During her imprisonment, her father passed away from sadness and feeling too upset about the mistreatment she received; her mother is bedridden and cannot take care of herself.
8. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Jianling Arrested and Taken to the Changchun City Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Li Jianling from Baishan City was arrested by officers of the Xinjian District Police Department on March 7 while she was distributing truth-clarification materials after a residential patrol officer reported her. She has been unlawfully taken to the Changchun City Women's Forced Labor Camp to be subjected to one and a half years of forced labor.

10. [Cang County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Xiyi's Condition is Unclear
Mr. Wang Xiyi from Wanglongzhuang Village, Huangtipu Township of Cang County went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa on October 22, 2000, but he was arrested and taken to the Cang County Detention Center on October 27, 2000. During his detention, he was subjected to brutal beatings (1) and being dragged behind a motorcycle (2). Later, he was transferred to the Huangtipu Township Police Station. Police officers there extorted 2,000 yuan from Mr. Wang Xiyi's family members before he was released. However, police officers went to his home to harass him constantly and ordered him to report to the local police station during the day, only allowing him to be home at night. He was forced to leave home to avoid this ongoing persecution. Afterwards, he was arrested several times, but he was released after going on hunger strike to protest the persecution. The last time Mr. Wang was arrested, he was secretly sentenced to over nine years of imprisonment. Reportedly, he is being tortured in the Shijiazhuang City Prison. However, when his elder sister and sister-in-law went there to visit him, prison guards made all efforts to prevent them from seeing him.
11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Xiulan Unlawfully Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Song Xiulan is fifty-six years old and lived in the Hanting District of Weifang City. She was arrested on March 22 by officers of the State Security Division of the Hanting District Police Department. She was first held in the Weifang City Detention Center. Several days later, she was taken to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
12. [Ningxia Autonomous Region] Yinchuan City Court Held an Illegal Trial Against Mr. Xie Yiqiang
On February 2, the Yingchuan City and Ningxia Autonomous Region 610 Offices ordered police officers from the Funing Street Police Station of the Xingqing District Police Department to apply means of violence and deception to forcibly arrest Mr. Xie Yiqiang at his workplace (the Ningxia Autonomous Region Quality and Safety Technology Examination Office). The Xingqing District Police Department carried out repeated and long-term interrogations of Mr. Xie Yiqiang's colleagues. Later, simply based upon the oral descriptions from Mr. Xie's colleagues, officers Zhang and Yang (given names unknown), they unlawfully arrested Mr. Xie Yiqiang. On May 5, the Xingqing District Court of Yinchuan City held an unlawful trial against Mr. Xie Yiqiang.

At 11:00 p.m., on May 5, Ms. Zhang Yueqing from Taiyuan City was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station of the Yingze District Police Department and the Taiyuan City Police Department. Ms. Zhang's home was also ransacked. At around 6:00 p.m. on May 6, Ms. Zhang Yueqing was forcibly taken from the Chengguan Police Station to the Taiyuan City Detention Center.

16. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Supplementary Information on Two Arrested Practitioners from the Baoan District of Shenzhen City
On January 12, 2008, practitioner Ms. Tong Ling and a male practitioner were distributing Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials in Futongcheng area, Xi Township in Baoan District, Shenzhen City, when they were reported to the police by local security officers. They were subsequently arrested and unlawfully taken to and held in the Jiuwei Detention Center of Baoan District, Shenzhen City. Ms. Tong Ling has been taken to the Xili District of Shenzhen City, where she is being pressured constantly to write a "confession statement". The male practitioner's whereabouts are unknown.

17. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Practitioners Ms. Chen Zhuoyi and Ms. Chen Baozhen Unlawfully Sentenced to Forced Labor
On April 17, police officers from the Zhonghua Police Station, located at the Chikan District of Zhanjiang City, arrested Ms. Chen Zhuoyi (thirty-two years old) and unlawfully held her in the Zhanjiang City Law School (Brainwashing Center). On April 30, Ms. Chen Zhuoyi and Ms. Chen Baozhen were forcibly taken to the Hainan Provincial Administration Forced Labor Camp.
This month, police officers went to the home of Ms. Sun Dangyang in Chikan District, Zhanjiang City and arrested her. Ms. Chen Baozhen happened to be visiting Ms. Sun Dangyang's home and was arrested by the police as well.

Mr. Jin Ronghao was arrested by officers of the Shenhe District Police Department on April 30 while he was clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa. Mr. Jin is held in the Fangjialan District Detention Center.
20. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Weimin Unlawfully Sentenced to Forced Labor
On around April 10, Mr. Sun Weimin (in his forties) from Zhangjiadian District of Zibo City was arrested at home by police officers from the Zhangjiadian District State Security Division. He was first held in the Zibo City Detention Center. At present, he has been unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor and transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Sun Weimin had been forced to leave home for many years to avoid being arrested and had just returned home before the Chinese New Year.
21. [Shandong Province] Mr. Mo Changqi from the No. 3 People's Hospital of Zibo City Unlawfully Sentenced to Six Years of Imprisonment

Between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on April 21, over ten people from the 610 Office of Baoji City, the Jintai District Police Department, the Shangmaying District Police Station, the Criminal Police Division, and the Residential Office arrested Ms. Wang Jiangmei at her home and also confiscated her home computer, printer and other items. At present, several practitioners, including Ms. Wang Jiangmei and Ms. Qin Lihua, are being held in the Huatai Hotel.

23. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Exposure of the Evil Doings in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
On April 29, fifteen Falun Dafa practitioners were forcibly taken from Beijing to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Reportedly, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp has been "buying" practitioners from Beijing and forcing practitioners to do slave labor to make money for the labor camp.
24. [Pinglu County, Shanxi Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
At around 9:00 p.m. on May 3, police officers from the Pinglu County Police Department broke into private homes and arrested several practitioners. Police also confiscated from practitioners' homes computers, cell phones and other items.

Ms. Yang Ruiying is a retired worker in her fifties. She is divorced and has been living with her mentally retarded son who in his twenties.

28. [Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Yang Zhongping Unlawfully Held in the Local Detention Center
In early April 2008, Mr. Yang Zhongping (about fifty years old) from Zhongshan City was followed by police officers when he was distributing truth-clarification materials and subsequently arrested. His home was also ransacked. Mr. Yang is currently being held in the local detention center.
Mr. Yang Zhongping went to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Dafa after the persecution started. When he was taken back to Zhongshan City by the police, he was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor and was taken to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp, where he was tortured.
29. [Chongqing City] Mr. Tan Fenghao Currently Held in the Liziba Detention Center
On April 16, Mr. Tan Fenghao from Chongqing City was arrested by officers from the Shangqingsi Police Station and is currently being held in the Liziba Detention Center.
30. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Practitioners Including Ms. Wang Yunchong
At a little past 6:00 p.m. on May 4, over thirty plainclothes police officers from the Pingdu City Police Department and the 610 Office unlawfully broke into private homes and arrested practitioners Ms. Wang Yunchong, Ms. Xu Aifang, Mr. Zhong Zhenfu, and Ms. Liu Jiyu. In addition, police confiscated a computer, two printers, one CD burner, one integrated copy machine, two satellite dishes, two electric vehicles, Falun Dafa books, and other items. Witnesses reported that Ms. Wang Yunchong was brutally beaten by police.
At a little past 11:00 p.m., on May 5, about twenty people climbed over the wall to break into the homes of practitioners Mr. Jia and Mr. Sun in an attempt to arrest these two practitioners. Both practitioners managed to escape but police confiscated Falun Dafa books. Following that, police used the keys found on Mr. Zhong Zhenfu's person and broke into another site for truth-clarification materials manufacturing and storage and confiscated three integrated copy machines, one paper-cutting machine, several boxes of the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party," truth-clarification materials and blank CDs. On May 6, Ms. Liu Jiyu was released on bail.
31. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Luan Yongye Arrested
Mr. Luan Yongye (in his sixties) was posting truth-clarification materials in a local district on April 17 when he was reported to the police and arrested. Mr. Luan has been held in the Dashan District Detention Center.
32. [Jilin Province] Mr. Ma Weichun from the Baihe Forestry Administration Arrested
At a little past 9:00 p.m., on April 25, Mr. Ma Weichun, who works for the Baihe City Forestry Administration and lives in the Railroad Residential District, was arrested by police officers from the Chibei District Police Station of the Changbaishan Police Department. Mr. Ma's home was ransacked. Mr. Ma is currently being held in the Baihe Forestry Administration Detention Center and subjected to torture.
At a little past 11:00 p.m., police officers broke into and ransacked the home of an elderly practitioner. The police failed to take the practitioner away as the practitioner was bedridden.
33. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zhang Junjie Arrested Again
On April 29, Mr. Zhang Junjie, who lived in the Electric Power Industry Bureau's apartments at the bureau's residential district in Changsha City, was arrested. He is unlawfully held in the Zuojiatang Detention Center of Changsha City. Mr. Zhang Junjie was released only a year ago from the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp of Zhuzhou City.
34. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhu Xiansheng, Mr. Ye Wenxin, and Mr. Fan Feihai Arrested
Practitioners, including Mr. Zhu Xiansheng, Mr. Ye Wenxin, and Mr. Fan Feihai from Meizhou City, were forcibly arrested at their homes at about 10:20 p.m. on May 6 by police officers from the Mei County 610 Office and Meizhou City State Security Division. The police broke the doors to forcibly enter. The satellite dishes at these practitioners' homes were immediately taken down. Four computers, three printers, one television, many DVDs and VCDs, over twenty copies of Zhuan Falun, CDs, and truth-clarification materials from Mr. Zhu Xiansheng's home, with a total value of 40,000 yuan, were unlawfully confiscated. Over 6,000 yuan in cash was also taken from him. The 610 Office agents attempted to arrest his wife, who is also a practitioner. The whereabouts of these arrested practitioners are unknown.
35. [Quyang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhuan Junru Arrested by Officers from the Hengzhou Town Police Station
Ms. Zhuan Junru is about fifty years old. She was arrested by police officers from the Hengzgou Town Police Station on the morning of May 7 when she was distributing truth-clarification materials at the police station. At a little past 1:00 p.m., police officers went to ransack her home.
36. [Guangzong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Guo Yanqiu Arrested
On May 4, Pan Rongge (male), the chief of the Guangzong County State Security Division, colluded with Zhang Shuai (male), the chief of the Dapingtai Township Police Station, to go to Xima Village in Dapingtai Township to arrest Ms. Guo Yanqiu and also confiscate her Falun Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. Ms. Guo Yanqiu is currently being held in the county detention center.
37. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Elderly Practitioner Ms. Xia Guilan Arrested
At around 7:00 a.m., on April 24, elderly Ms. Xia Guilan, who is almost eighty years old, was arrested by police officers from the Suiyang District of Shangqiu City, and her home ransacked as well. She was taken to the Pingtai District Police Station and then released two days later.

(1) Brutal Beating
Brutal beating is used most commonly. Practitioners can suffer various disabilities or injuries due to the intensity of the beatings. If the practitioners refuse to give in, they will be further tortured until they are brutally deformed. Police intensify the beatings by pouring salt solutions onto the wounds, using high-voltage electric batons to shock them, or cover practitioners' heads with a plastic bag to try to force them to give in when they fear they might die of suffocation.
