(Clearwisdom.net) St. Martin's Square is located in central London. Though the square is not big, it sits between the famous Trafalgar Square and Chinatown, close to a number of prominent theaters. In the past two years, London Falun Gong practitioners have come to the square many times to hold activities in order to promote Falun Dafa and raise awareness of the persecution in China.
On September 15th 2007, several Falun Gong practitioners again came to the Square to clarify the truth to the public. Practitioners displayed truth-clarifying boards which documented the beauty of Falun Dafa, facts of the brutal persecution and the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocities of harvesting organs from living practitioners. While some practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, others distributed leaflets, collected signatures calling for an end to the persecution, and clarified the truth to passersby.
As it was a very nice day and there was a large musical event taking place in Trafalgar Square, there were many people passing by St. Martin's Square. Among the passersby were Chinese people. Many people stopped to view the exhibition boards, accepted Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, and/or signed a petition to show their support. There were also a number of people who asked questions to learn more about the persecution.
Standing in front of the exhibition boards, an English man was visibly shocked by the pictures about the CCP's atrocities of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. He asked a practitioner, "Has it [CCP] really removed organs from living people? Why has the CCP done that?" The practitioner told him about the evil nature of the CCP: "Since the CCP came into power in 1949, it has launched political campaigns one after another to persecute innocent Chinese people, resulting in the unnatural death of about 80 million people. In July 1999, it started to persecute 100 million Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. During the persecution, it has exhausted all manner of torture methods to force practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong and thousands of practitioners have died during the persecution. It was exposed last year by witnesses that the CCP had been systematically harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and an independent investigation conducted by two Canadians has confirmed that such atrocities are happening in China." Upon hearing this, the gentleman said, "Please give me a leaflet."
While looking at a picture depicting a Falun Gong practitioner being tortured by CCP policemen, a young couple asked a practitioner: "Is this real?" The practitioner told them, "This photo is a re-enactment; however, such persecution is happening right now in China." Pointing at the caption below the photo, the girl said, "Oh, it is a re-enactment." At this moment, a practitioner standing nearby opened a truth clarifying leaflet to show them a photo of Gao Rongrong after her face was disfigured by prison guards. She said to them, "Please look at this. This is a real photo. The lady in the photo was brutally tortured and her face was disfigured due to electric shocks. She died." Upon seeing Gao Rongrong's photo, the young man said: "It is too horrifying!" He immediately signed the petition calling for an immediate end to the persecution.
A young Chinese woman and her father stopped in front of the practitioners' information table. After chatting with them, a practitioner learned that the father had just came from China to visit his daughter who is studying in the UK, and the daughter wanted to find some Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials for her father. While the daughter was selecting materials, the practitioner talked with the father. He talked about his personal positive experience with Falun Dafa, to the ongoing tide of quitting the CCP, and urged the father to be open-minded and quit the CCP for his own sake. The father listened quietly and occasionally nodded his head in agreement.
When standing on a street corner distributing materials, a practitioner heard a call: "Please give me one." she turned around and saw a young Chinese man. Realizing that he was Chinese, the practitioner said, "Please wait, I will get you some materials in Chinese." She ran to the information table and took a Falun Gong leaflet, a booklet and a VCD and handed them to the young man. The young man gladly accepted the materials.
A practitioner brought her 4-year-old son to the Square. The little boy is very innocent and lovely. Whenever he handed a leaflet to a passerby, the person would accept it with a big smile. Some people even came up to him to get a copy. "I must take one from you, thank you!" one passerby said to him.
