(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Feng Detian, sixty years old, is a doctor from Tanbu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. Before he practiced Falun Dafa, he suffered from cerebral sclerosis, coronary heart disease, neurasthenia and chronic enterogastritis. His situation worsened after taking medicine and having injections. After Feng Detian started to practice Falun Dafa, he quickly regained his health and strengthened his moral character. Falun Dafa saved Mr Feng's life and his family. His wife Ms. Zhang Yumei also practices Falun Dafa.
After the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Dafa, Zhang Yumei has been to Beijing twice to tell people about her experience of practicing Falun Gong, but she has been subjected to brutal persecution.
On February 1, 2000, Zhang Yumei went to Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa, and she was arrested by the police. The police in Beijing notified the local authorities of her hometown. The officials sent by the local authorities body-searched Zhang Yumei while drunk and took her last 100 yuan. Then they proceeded to beat her. In the end, they escorted her back to Tanbu Town, Mengyin County. She was detained in a room on the ground floor next to the stairs. At that time, there were more than twenty Falun Dafa practitioners illegally detained there. That night, a sudden heavy snowfall left the ground covered by deep snow, and the temperature dropped to minus 13 degrees Celsius. That happened just before the Chinese Lunar New Year, when everyone else was enjoying the celebration of the New Year. Over twenty female practitioners had to sleep on the cold cement floor without any covers. They had nothing to eat and were not allowed to contact anyone outside. Later some nearby practitioners found out that they were illegally arrested and brought them some food.
After the Lantern Festival, some local officials led by Liu Zhimin, Gong Fangjin and Meng Qinglong sent all of the practitioners who had been to Beijing to brainwashing sessions in order to "transform" them with violence within three months. The other officials involved include Hu Yanfu, Zhang Qian, Zhao Dong, Zhao Jian, Pan Yushan, Wang Yanfeng, Zhang Minglei, Gong Yanzi, Sun Jifang, Wang Mingjun, Wang Yejun, Gong Pichun, Yu Huazeng, Kan Shicang, Gong Yanpeng, Wu Gang and Wang Jiquan.
The officials repeatedly ransacked the practitioners' homes. Gong Pichun, Yu Huazeng, Sun Jifang and Wu Gong stole planks, heavy equipment and wheat from Feng Detian's home, and extorted 6,000 yuan as a "fine" and 1,000 yuan as "bail" money.
In the year after the brainwashing sessions ended, the local authorities continued their constant harassment. They sometimes broke into their house in broad daylight, and other times they climbed over the wall to enter their home at night. In 2002, after the wheat harvest season, Zhang Yumei was illegally arrested at night and sent to Mengyin County Detention Center for 15 days.
Before the CCP's National People's Congress, the 610 Office in Mengyin County started to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners and sent them to brainwashing centers. Feng Detian and his wife went to a relative's home to talk about finding a job away from home. During that same afternoon, seven or eight officials went to his relative's home, broke into the house and tried to arrest them. They didn't find Zhang Yumei, but spotted the truth-clarifying materials and the book Zhuan Falun that Feng Detian had on him. They arrest Feng Detian together with one of his relatives who does not practice Falun Gong. They took them to the county government building. Feng Detian's relative Gong Pijun was detained in the "610 Office", while Feng Detian was detained at the Family Planning Office. Seven or eight thugs beat him to the ground with punches and kicks, slapped him in the face, whipped him with a leather belt, and kicked and stomped him all over his body. After that they used a wooden stick to beat him and kept asking him the whereabouts of his wife and the source of his materials. The wooden stick was broken, so they brought out an iron rod instead for hitting Feng Detian's thigh. Feng Detian couldn't stand the beating any more, so he told them that his wife Zhang Yumei went to his daughter's home in a country town.
By then, Feng Detian's face was beaten beyond recognition and there was a lump as big as an egg on his forehead. His left leg, from his thigh down to his foot, was covered with bruises. It was so swollen that he was not able to squat down. He had to limp and suffered unbearable pain. A person suddenly kicked Feng Detian in the chest so hard that he fell backwards against a wall more than one meter away. His head heavily bumped against the wall, and he started to black out. The thugs left at that point.
Later the thugs returned and forced Feng into a car to look for his wife at his daughter's place. His daughter's family was already asleep. The local officials woke the family up and searched the whole house, but could not find Zhang Yumei. They went to another relative's home, but still couldn't find her.
The local authorities illegally detained Feng Detian and his relative Gong Pijun for 15 days. They were told to pay a 2,000 yuan "fine" and then were released. Feng Detian had no money to pay for the "fine", so he had to stay away from home for three months.
