(Clearwisdom.net) On July 3, 2007, Ottawa Falun Gong practitioners gathered outside the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa strongly condemned the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for instigating the Hong Kong government to bar more than 800 Taiwan citizens and Falun Gong practitioners--who were on a blacklist--from entering Hong Kong. Practitioners called on the Hong Kong government to take seriously this important illegal international incident that damages "one country, two systems" and Hong Kong's image.

From June 24 to July 1, 2007, more than 800 Taiwanese practitioners attempted to go to Hong Kong to support the lawsuit against the prime culprits of the persecution, Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and Li Lanqing and others, and to take part in the July 1st Grand Parade organized by the Civil Human Rights Front. They were denied visas, not allowed to board, and forcibly and violently deported by the Hong Kong authorities. This was the largest and most violent deportation incident in the past ten years in Hong Kong. Some analysts pointed out that the incident was manipulated by the vice president of the CCP, who is in charge of Hong Kong affairs, Zeng Qinghong.
Chairman of the Canada Falun Dafa Association Li Xun told the reporter, "Such large scale deportation of Falun Gong practitioners is concrete evidence that the CCP's claim of 'one country, two systems' is a lie. In the long run, it is sustained by such lies. Such a blatant violation of human rights also lets the world's people see clearly the CCP's evil nature.
Taiwan practitioners produced a copy of an email from a certain airline company showing that the Hong Kong Immigration Department included Falun Gong practitioners on an "unwelcome list" on July 1. An officer with the immigration department mentioned that the list was provided by the National Security Department in mainland China. The deportation incident involved the National Security Department. On June 30, the Hong Kong Falun Dafa Association, based on the evidence collected, submitted an urgent judicial review to the Supreme Court.
Canadian Falun Gong practitioner and Indian writer Sharda Vaidyanath said that this incident deserves close attention, because it shows that when the international community is unaware, someone will seriously violate current international law, international norms, and standards that are widely respected and agreed upon. He said that not only should Canada sound the alarm, but also the whole world. If future such incidents occur, many people living in democratic countries will not be able to protect their human rights.
Practitioners stated in their notice to the media in Canada that, "The CCP ordered the Hong Kong government to bar Falun Gong practitioner from entering. To avoid news of the deportations getting out, the Hong Kong government used CCP tactics, such as blocking the news. Practitioners were confined in a designated area to prevent the media from covering the incident. During the deportation process, the police treated women and children roughly. They pushed and shoved them; confined them in a room; and did not allow them to drink water, take food, or use the toilet. Male and female police officers disobeyed the rule that they can't conduct body searches on the opposite sex. The police even wrapped them in anti-riot blankets, tied them up, and then threw them on flatbed luggage trolleys to send them to board the planes. Two reporters who were roughly treated recounted how Taiwan practitioners were taken to a detention room from the immigration customs. The Writers' Association in Taiwan and Hong Kong strongly protested the Hong Kong government violating freedom of the press."
Sharda Vaidyanath said in an interview that if somebody were to think that this only targeted Falun Gong or things happening inside China, that would be a big mistake and a big misunderstanding. They must be clear that all this is happening to everyone. "Now it may be only one country, and one place has the problem, but if we allow such things to continue happening, nobody can enjoy their rights."
Practitioners stated in their notice to the media in Canada, "How a place controls people entering or leaving is a reflection of its level of democracy, rule of law, civilization, and respect for human rights. The Hong Kong government's large-scale violent deportation of Taiwan citizens who believe in Falun Gong highlights the reality that 'one country, two systems' has completely failed. If the Hong Kong government can arbitrarily persecute anybody without a reason, then everybody can become a target of its persecution. Falun Gong is only the symbol."
Li Xun said, "Another aspect of the deportation incident indicates that Falun Gong has not been intimidated. Currently, Taiwan practitioners are still continuing to go to Hong Kong. Over the past eight years, even under serious persecution, practitioners have demonstrated their peaceful and tenacious will and their determination to stop the persecution. Their kindness exists in sharp contrast to the evil of the CCP's manipulation of the Hong Kong government, and allows people to see the comparison between good and evil."
